New Fazer Owner!
Posted by: GosportFazer - 31-01-14, 02:33 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (29)

Hey guys!

Wrote off my gpz500 last monday on a ford KA that didn't see me  :eek  and now my leg has recovered I have just brought my new steed home. Loving the colour and it goes well, although it does seem to hesitate and run a little rough sub 3000rpm. Hopefully some tlc and a slight service will help that once I get some OK weather.

  Should be an experience
Posted by: Drax - 31-01-14, 11:14 AM - Forum: General - Replies (23)

Won a YBR125 on fleabay for the missus & am picking it up tomorrow.

I've decided to ride it back the 80 miles from Suffolk to Peterborough. The route consists of mainly the A14 /A1 - two of the best driving / riding roads in the country(not!) - as I've said....it will be an experience.  Smile

Soon as I get back ( after a cup of tea & a thaw out) I'm jumping on my Gen2 FZ1 to take it to my mates unit to put in storage for the next couple of (snowy) months.

I wonder if I'll notice much difference going from 12bhp to 150bhp?  Wink

  advice on crash responsibility
Posted by: AndyL - 30-01-14, 06:20 PM - Forum: General - Replies (88)

Hi,

I had a bump on my last bike in November.
I was filtering past stationary traffic using the other lane as it was empty, a car pulled out of a side road.
I came to a stop but this has been disputed by the car driver. It's bent the front disc on my bike and an unspecified amount of damage to the car (who was turning right)

The insurance company was going to settle  against me using Powell Vs Moody

They have refused to consider the Davis Vs Schogrin on the grounds that the situation is different though they did accept Leesen Vs Bevis and have now agreed to settle 50/50

There are no witnesses to use so I can't prove I cam to a full stop. I did point out that the trend in the case law was more in the riders favor the the previous case law and while she agreed that was the trend she said the specific circumstances are different.

The damage to my bike is minor (2nd hand parts for an SR125 are cheap) but I understand this will affect premiums in future for both bikes and cars (I'm hoping to pass my car test soon).

Has anyone used Davis Vs Schogrin for an incident at a junction?

Funny problem starting and cutting out
Posted by: pintlicker - 30-01-14, 04:42 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (28)

Hi, I wonder if any of you have any ideas on what may be causing this?

I've been running my 99 FZS600 throughout the winter with no issues but in the last week I've noticed that there has been a funny problem starting.  Intermittently it decides that it won't fire when I first press the starter button, it usually does on the second or third try with no problems.  That issue hadn't really been bothering me too much as it always started, but I popped out on it at lunchtime and on the way back the engine just died.  I pulled over to the side and it started again on the second or third push of the starter.

I'm off tomorrow but ideally id like to work out what might be causing this over the weekend.  The problem is that it doesn't happen consistently, most of the time it will fire first time and its never cut out on me before today.

My primary suspect is the spark plugs, I had them out last year for a clean when I was servicing the bike but it may have been a few years since I've replaced them but I'm not sure that would have caused the bike to cut out.  Other than that would I be looking at fuel pump, coil, cut off switch and ignition switch as the next likely suspects?Anything else I'm missing?thanks

Blue 2002 FZS600 Foxeye with around 15k miles for sale.
Posted by: mickvp - 30-01-14, 12:43 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (15)

Well,

I feel the time has come to let the Foxeye go, and move up to a thou. Its a Blue 2002 Foxeye, with around 15k miles (I'll confirm exact mileage tonight). Its been serviced under 1k miles ago with:

 • New oil filter (K&N).
 • Oil change (Silkolene).
 • Air filter changed (OEM).
 • Iridium Spark Plugs Fitted (NGK)
 • Brake lines changed for braided lines (Goodridge 2 line front, single rear).
 • Brake fluid changed (Ferodo super DOT 4).
 • Front & Rear brake pads changed (Ferodo platinum all round).
 • Carbs Balanced.
 • New Michelin PR2 tyres front and rear.
 • New number plate (the old one was tired looking).

The bike is running great as you would expect, and Ive had no problems with it. On top of the servicing work carried out around 800-1000 miles ago, Ive also just last week bought a new Heavy Duty D.I.D chain and sprockets for the bike, which I may or may not fit (but will include them in the sale, regardless)

It also has the following bits fitted:

 • Clear lens covers (with "silver" bulbs - I have the OEM orange covers too which I can include in the sale).
 • Fenda-Extender.
 • Colour coded rear hugger.
 • Engine crash bars (I think they are renntec ones).
 • Renntec sports rack (not currently fitted, but whoever buys the bike is welcome to it).
 • shiny radiator cover thingmajig. :lol
 • Scottoiler.

Included is also the OEM yamaha toolkit under the seat (all the bits are there), and I have 3 keys for it and a folder with a load of old MOT's etc.

Jobs needing done - in the interests of total honesty, the only thing the bike needs done (IMO) is that the engine block could do with a tidy up and a repaint, as it does look a bit scabby which lets the bike down. If I get a nice weekend this is somethign I may address, and it is purely cosmetic, but I feel it warrants a mention.

As said, personally I would want to replace the chain and sprockets too as I think the current ones look poorly, but a new set is included in the sale.

Here are a couple of pics:

These pictures are around 2 months old (before the michelins went on), Im happy to take more upto date pictures for anyone who wants them (though it will need to wait till the weekend before it is light enough).

I'm looking for £1700 for the bike, and it is located about 20 miles outside of Glasgow.

Any questions , fire away.
