I was one of the first to buy one of these units and it has been great.

I don't use the bike much these days and leave it on a trickle charger. When I have used the bike the last couple of times I noticed the clock on the dash was showing 00:00. When I set the clock and then use the bike it is OK for the day but looses time again by the next day. I am, assuming there are batteries inside the unit somewhere.

Can anybody confirm there are batteries, where they are situated and what type they are please. I presume they are rechargeable.

Any help would be welcomed.

Clutch slow to release especially in 1st

Gonna do separate posts for each issue, rather than things get lost in a general one.

OK, so did some town and country side riding last night, mainly to test the lights!  OMG, mission accomplished, I can see the road!  LOADS better than the FZS - Anyway....

I now see what B1kerDude meant about the clutch.  It's almost as though it's not releasing, slipping (not sure if that is right).  But it's like it's delayed, especially when in first.  Get to the bite (closer to the handlebars now I've adjusted it, nice) and it doesn't "engage" for a split second, and then does, causing a not so smooth pull away.

B1kerdude may well be right about the cable sticking, let's hope so, easy fix for my bike shop, hopefully.  Hydraulic etc sounds lovely, but funds need to be spent wisely, and not all at once :-)

So, a 70 mile ride home (mostly motorway) gave me a reasonable feel for the bike.

The bike shop were lovely, recommend them.  Waltham Cross Motorcycles.  Even gave me a free Yamaha T-Shirt and stuck in some more fuel to ensure I got home without needing to stop (nice touch).

Bike was comfortable, and got me home.  Pulled well, didn't thrash it, enjoyed the ride, except for:

Wind noise - so loud - see other post.

and, Ahhhhhh, the 6000 rev buzz.  It's still there!  NOOOOOOOOOO  was so looking forward to have a hand that doesn't get all pins and needles through vibrations.  Perhaps it's me.  The left is always fine.  But I was still having to shake the hand or waggle fingers every 10 mins or so :-(  Damn it!!

other than that, seems to whine a lot when you come off the throttle.  Normal?  Do they have a fair bit of gearbox whine?  Not a problem, just a noise I've not had when riding before.

As B1kerdude said, clutch was a bit bitey, but I adjusted it a little and brought the biting point closer to the handlebars - much better (more where I'm used to the biting point being).

I already feel so much more confident in corners.  I'm not a quick rider, but I felt more confident in how the bike handled bumps and didn't put the fear in me if I hit a bump mid corner.:-)  WIN!!!!

Found out the bike has an alarm - oh no - I've only ever heard alarms are a ball ache, draining batteries.  - Hope mine is OK.

Gonna pop out and try the lights this evening - hoping I can actually see the road ahead for a change.

  Excessive wind noise
Posted by: HarryHornby - 28-10-25, 06:45 PM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (7)

And so it begins..... the start of all the questions ha ha ha

OMG, the wind noise on the motorway.  Unless I sit uncomfortably bolt upright, the wind comes off the front screen straight into my helmet.  It used to be into my chest on the FZS.  It was so loud, and I already wear ear plugs.

I see a taller touring screen our double bubble seem to be the fix.  I'm not fussed on a taller screen, it's already quite tall.  So what are people's thoughts on fixing this?

Cheers

Adrian

Morning

When we migrated from the old SMF forum to the new MyBB forum, it resulted in a number of cleanup tasks. Last night @9pm I attempted to merge two permissions groups and because this had to be done manually, it didn't complete as intended and broke stuff. The end result was I had to do a restore from backup.

If anyone of posted anything after 5pm yesterday, these posts/msgs are no longer available unfortunately.

Apologies.

b.

  I need help!!! I'm stumped.

Howzit guys. So here is my story - I bought fazer 400 97 model +- 7 years ago. I lost faith in the bike when it would randomly die riding home sometimes from work. So I threw a plastic cover over it and put it rest... 7 years later, ive I got the heart to revive it..I've cleaned  the fuel tank, cleaned the carb and bench synced the carb aswell...I've bought and put new the 600 manifold boots on because the others were toast. Changed the oil and changed the oil filter. So heres the juice, ive got it to fire on all cyclinders and it idles for a bit and then died and won't fire and run again until the stars align.. Im also having a backfire through the carb theough to air filter boxer once in a while.. I just don't know what could be causing this issue..Is it fuel starvation or is an air seal issue thats causing a bubble thats not allowing fuel through...PS ive made a rig up for fuel, from a bottle so i dont have to rely on the pet cock volve and fuel tank while i work on the bike.
Im losing hopeSad Let me add the previous owner has removed the choke "plate". Have no idea why but ya i cant use the choke unless i manually pull on the brass bars on the carb.. S.O.S

Morning

So I have noticed a flaw in the way the forum software handles replies. The reply button is quoting the post of pm of the person your replying too, instead of simply replying.

So until I find a fix for this annoyance/bug, I am requesting everyone to -

  • please delete the quote entirely from your reply before typing.
  • or if want some part of the previous post, please edit the quote so it contains only the bare bones of the previous message.

This will alleviate the "green wall of quote" SPAM I am seeing in most threads at the moment.

many thanks

biker
