  Back wheel not spinning freely
Posted by: ddartt - 02-02-14, 11:10 PM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (5)

Hi guys,

Very first post on this forum - hope you can give me some advise!

I've had my FZ6 06 just for few months. I've noticed a bit weird behavior of the real wheel. It wouldn't spin freely on neutral on central stand, so you can spin it with hand, but it won't continue spinning.
Then if I put this in 1st gear on center stand, it will continue spinning even with disengaged clutch. If I switch to neutral it very soon comes to hault, but if I change to the second gear, it would only spin when the clutch is engaged - as soon as I disengage the clutch, the wheel quickly comes to hault.

I was wondering if:
a) This is normal?
b) If not, where should I look for a problem? Initial thoughts are to get the brake caliper of and see if the wheel would spin freely then - any other thoughts?
c) Can this also cause a bit of weird handling - e.g. difficulty controlling the bike on an uneven road?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

Front end swap to USD forks (done and now with pics and write up)
Posted by: Geordi Sussex - 02-02-14, 10:46 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (61)

Just made a deal for a YZF front end

Hopefully with swapping out the steering stem for the fazer one it will be a hassle free fit
But before it gets on I think I'll swap out fork seals

Any idea if the fzs calliper will fit onto yzf for legs?

  New Top Gear
Posted by: ChristoT - 02-02-14, 10:18 PM - Forum: General - Replies (53)

Anyone else watch the new episode of Top Gear tonight? I wasn't too impressed, TBH. The idea of the 80s hot hatches were good, but they ruined it by pissing about too much at the end. It's really gone down the drain, didn't find it that funny at all.  Sad

  Rear Shock Question
Posted by: Yamazer-92 - 02-02-14, 06:50 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (18)

I bought a jack up kit this week and decided to fit it today. No issues there very easy job, however having not touched any of the rear shock properly before I only just noticed the state of it. The large silver linkage part with the 3 bearings was extremely dirty and all of the bearings were full of dirty sludge, the metal roller parts that are removable were all quite scored on each one and stained / burned an orange colour from the old grease. One of them had some slight corrosion too.

The worst however was the top of the shock. Is that one supposed to spin like the others? It is completely rigid and seized at the moment, I couldnt remove it to clean and re-grease it so have just left it where it is. I can take some photos if required. Is it an issue? How do I know what state of life the rear shock is in too? It doesn't look too bad but internally I cant see and don't know how to check it. Do you think it would be worth replacing the roller things in the linkage?

  Nice hack bike?
Posted by: nick crisp - 02-02-14, 01:45 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

Just been looking at this - what d'ya reckon? I think it'd make a good winter hack, and suitable for getting crudded up at rallies etc? The bid has gone up by £200 overnight - wonder where it'll finish. And I wonder if my brother would be happy to park his car on the road?  :lol

And boy, these are getting pricey, and not even the best one I've seen - one for the dream garage for me. They are getting rarer....

  Puffin crossing
Posted by: midden - 02-02-14, 12:23 AM - Forum: General - Replies (20)

Just doing the Motorcycle theory practice test and the question mentions Puffin crossing.
I've always known them as pelican crossings. Am I wrong or just outdated? Sad
