SW France to N Wales and back on an MT09
Posted by: lew600fazer - 02-10-16, 12:21 PM - Forum: General - Replies (22)

Left home in SW France for a meet up with mates from the SX forum in N Wales on the 21st September and got back home on the 29th. Mileage covered 2460,yes did suffer from a numb bum at times. Great craic at the meet. Booked into the Oakely Arms and there cottages near Portmaddoc. Not a bad place but not sure if I would ever stay there again as a group. The cottages are smashing clean and comfortable. What did pee us off though was when we went to eat in the restaurant (15 of us) as we had booked a table one would have thought it would have been laid out for dinning. We were then informed as the bar was busy we would have to wait and then go to the bar to order our food. 15 hungry bikers voiced there opinion on that idea and guess what suddenly found someone to take the food orders.
Thankfully we had excellent weather for the ride out and I also kept dry for my run up to N Wales and again my run back down to France.
One thing I will say, no wonder Europe is full of terrorists, not once did I have to show my passport leaving France, entering Britain (Dover)leaving Britain or entering France again, border controls are a fecking joke.

Retrofitting HID projector mk2 2002 fazer
Posted by: jamie16v - 02-10-16, 09:45 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (2)

Hello guys, yesterday i retrofitted a HID projector kit into my headlamp. when fitting the kit it came with the H4 adapter rings to clamp the projector into the headlamp reflector housing. i noticed that this caused an approximate 30-50 degree angle on the projector which seems to angle the beam towards road signs and away from oncoming vehicles (up to the left down to the right) i know that right hand drive vehicles are supposed to be this way but this pattern seems extreme.
From seeing images on the net, the beam seems horizontal with a central dip which lowers to the right. where as my beam seems diagonal.
these are the projectors i fitted http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152028284543?_...EBIDX%3AIT
anybody here noticed anything like this?. TIA

  Heated grips
Posted by: Graham53 - 01-10-16, 08:04 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (18)

I feel like a right numpty asking about this especially after my last post about lights but does anyone know anything about oxford heated grips ??  :wall
I've never had any heated grips over the years but new bike has them ( I think !!) but I'm buggered if I can see a controller and all the ones I've ever seen have a little controller box.
It's got the grips with the wiring coming out but the wiring leads into the loom still no controller box.
Do they do heated grips without a controller ?? Are they on all the time ? ( haven't felt warm when ridden ) surely there must be a switch or something they can't be on all time what if it's 80 deg outside.
I've taken all the givi luggage off today so had seat and tail off and can't see any power box or control unit
Dealer said it had heated grips but not sure now
My chilly digits thank you in advance

  Lights on all the time
Posted by: Graham53 - 01-10-16, 03:00 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (13)

hi guys ,
Just got the new bike yesterday and noticed that the headlights are on all the time and there's no on/off switch like the 600 , reading through the owners manual it seems that there is no on/off switch but the lights come on when the engine has started but mine come on as soon as ignition switched on and with engine off.
Obviously this don't sound right but electrickery is is voodoo to me .
The bike had full givi luggage , renthals and bar risers so I think it's been touring , could this have been done on purpose for that I wonder or is it a fault ?? Any thoughts appreciated
Thanks

  disconnecting main keyswitch
Posted by: ptolemyx - 01-10-16, 02:54 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

I want to completely remove the top yoke to respray it. How do I disconnect the wiring to the main key switch? Or will I have to drill out the (very hard) security bolts to remove the whole switch assembly from the top yoke????
I've downloaded the workshop manual and can't find an answer there.
