  Ecu flashing
Posted by: Dudeofrude - 27-09-16, 10:45 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (7)

I've never owned a fuel injected bike before so all this is new to me.
Firstly do I need a power commander to flash the ecu or can it be done without?
And secondly I've ready yamaha changed the ecu maps on the 2011 and 2015 models. Does anyone know if the re-flash was any good? And is it something yamaha are likely to do for me or should I just take it to the local dyno guy and get him to flash it with something else?
Cheers

Bike will not start no spark Ideas?? FOUND THE PROBLEM
Posted by: Spike1306 - 27-09-16, 04:57 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

Bike has not been used for about 4 weeks due to intermittent fault that I have with it.

It all started where I would start it in the moring do the 6 mile journey to work and park her up, come out at a night time and she would start no problems, then one day I need to nip out around 1 hour after I got to work and the bike took an age to start, once running it was fine.

Then one day same again got to work and went to go out again and it started but when i got to where I was going and into the shop about 5 mins it would not start at all, managed to start her after 1/2 hour or so and it ran fine. got her home and checked no spark.

So after a series of weeks and trying different things I have replaced the regulator as that was down on one of the readings this did not help at all still no sprk, changed the coils as they where the obvious culprit and this time the bike started not a problem, ran it for around 10 minutes and then it would not start but I did have a spark but a weak one, left it an hour or so and it started but again once warm it would not start.

Ordered a new set of plugs and have put those in tonight and it will not start, as again it has no spark.
So it looks like the spark it working some times but not others, the hottness of the bike might be a factor BUT seeing as it will not start tonight after a new set of plugs I doubt its that, so have you guys any ideas where I turn next. The battery is brand new 2 months ago as the old one was shot.

Oh just to add, it is getting petrol as when I took the plug out it was wet and the smell pf petrol is there too

  What exhaust ??
Posted by: Graham53 - 27-09-16, 02:44 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (23)

Hi guys , need some help with what zorst to buy for the thou , I'm planning on ivanising in the future with the full monty but don't want a race system as planning to do a bit of touring in the future and after having an art race can on my 600 which was way toooo loud and got on my nerves after a week I don't want another.
what I'm hoping is available is a can that is road legal , suitable for a full monty, not as quiet as standard , a nice sound that's not too loud and won't get on my tits on a 500 mile + ride, not as huge as the standard.
I know a lot of cans have a db killer but are they effective at killing dbs? I had a pipe werx on the 600 after the art can and although quieter it seemed the db killer didn't make much difference.
If you look on flea bay there seem to be a million different makes some named brands some unknown and I don't want to shell out £2-300 and it's too loud.
Im sort of taken with mivv gp or scorpion at the mo not sure how loud they'll be anyone know or recommend something
Thanks

  Driving over the Alps
Posted by: dickturpin - 27-09-16, 10:34 AM - Forum: General - Replies (8)

Anyone with any experience of taking a car over the Alps as we go from autumn towards winter?
I may need to drive down to Italy in the next two to three weeks and wonder what sort of conditions to expect. The car will have normal summer tyres on.
When does it start to get dodgy on these high routes?

Repairing cracks/splits in front Boxeye fairing
Posted by: Dave48 - 27-09-16, 09:51 AM - Forum: General - Replies (7)

Hi foccers-some advice please.
Have done all the mechanical jobs on the "Red Reviver" since Feb except valve clearances which will be done next week by my local friendly garage-all the exhaust valves require reshimming.
Over the next few months I want to concentrate on the cosmetics and the main area of concern are the cracks alongside front indicators where bike has been dropped in past ownership. There has been a bit of a bodge up repair done by previous owner which involves mastic & thick black plastic tape. I would like to effect a proper repair even if it means having the nose cone repainted afterwards-It is the vivid red cocktail colour scheme so will involve 3 separate colours & stickers.
Any suggestions/recommendations. I realise a professional job wont be cheap. Over to you guys.
