| 6th gear indicator light |

I've got a Datatool gear indicator fitted to my 2004 Fazer 1000 but it's becoming unreliable (the indicator, not the bike). I was thinking of replacing it for a new one but then it occurred to me that all I actually need is a light that illuminates when I'm in 6th (to prevent me from trying to change up into a non-existent 7th gear). I don't need to know which gear I'm in otherwise.
I've read about the inner workings of the Multigauge designed by Christian Vieth (Schlumpf) on his info-packed website. Christian has very helpfully shared the ratios of pulse frequencies from the sensors for engine rpm and for speed for each gear - I'm only interested in that for 6th - and as far as I understand, all that would be required would be the means to calculate the ratio in real time, compare it with one stored in a register, and then illuminate an LED or activate a relay when the current ratio equals that pre-stored for 6th gear.
Has anyone done this already? If not, does anyone here have the necessary knowledge?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Help please.2001 gen 1 FZ1 US model. Red wire was shorted to the other 3 and I found the starter relay module relay faulty and replaced the whole module but same result. Backlight on dash comes on, as well as headlights blinkers, etc. However, no numbers or clock or anything, and no neutral light. Any help or ideas? I started going through the service manual and wiring. Any suggestions?
Update, when pulling the headlight fuse, the dash display (odo and clock) work again, but still no neutral light or crank when start is pushed, even with clutch in. All fuses are good. .

Hi
I have a notchy headstock and need to replace the bearings.
Has anyone had any good feedback from the Pyramid ones for sale on the bay?
I'm not too worried about the bearing themselves, but more whether the seals are the same design as Yamaha OEM.
Thanks in advance

Hi all. Have just purchased a project 600 foxeye 03 model to go.alongside my r6.. bought on spec rather stupidly and was told although it was dog rough it ran well and had full mot. Well....it won't even start as seems there is no power to ignition. Changed to a new battery and have indicators and hazards working and nothing else, no lights , horn or start up. Checked fuses.and all OK. Has anyone had similar or any ideas.
Cheers
Dave in Manchester
