Fazer 1000 Jet kit / EXUP
Posted by: vitman - 26-08-25, 05:26 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (53)

Hi everyone. I’ve recently become a happy owner of a 2005 FZS1000. The bike is awesome, and I’d like to improve it further. Unfortunately, when I went to service the EXUP system, I discovered that the valve had been removed and the muffler welded. In Estonia and neighboring countries, it’s very difficult to find a header with this valve.
So I’ve got a question before I start. How badly does the absence of the EXUP system REALLY affect low-end performance? I ride about 80% in the city, and I’d really like the engine to pull well at low RPM right away.

I found a company on eBay that makes jet kits for the Fazer and other bikes as well. They’ve sold over 100k kits and have around 40,000 reviews. From what I understand, they select the kit based on the bike’s setup.
So here’s my main question: if I order a kit for a completely stock bike but with the EXUP disabled, what will come out of it? Will everything run fine, or is it better to restore the EXUP by any means?
Thanks Angel

  FZS600 Front fender/mudguard making noise...
Posted by: obsjensen - 22-08-25, 04:42 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

Hi I was experiencing noise from front wheel, and i couldn’t figure out the problem. Suspected the bearings but mechanic confirmed that nothing is wrong and it simply was resonance from fairings or mudguard. Took mudguard off and the noise is gone. Mudguard back on, noise when going 50 kmh+.
I recently read this post, https://foc-u.co.uk/mybb/showthread.php?...light=wind
But is a new tire the right solution? It's resonance, so there should be an easier solution? I tried putting some rubber rings between the fender and the forks but it doesnt help. I have thought about buying a fender extender but i dont know if it will help, and i feel like there is a cheaper solutions. All comments appreciated, thanks!

Good afternoon
Few months ago I bought a 1999 fzs600 was fine. Now I seem to be loosing water. Done the obvious external checks. Now I took a plug out and there was water on it so thinking the head gasket which I will do, but for now was wondering if anyone has used the head gasket sealer which goes into the radiator. Just as a temporary measure.
Look forward to your reply’s.

  Wind noise....Thank you
Posted by: Fergie in France - 19-08-25, 04:41 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (9)

On the 30th July 23 TRIGGER51 wrote about a wind noise coming from the front, suspected wheel bearings . I had checked, bearings, calipers, speedo drive, rad cover, mudguard, cables,  brackets, inserts, you name it, i checked and cleaned where nessassary, plus a road test inbetween each job.

All to no avail, it was still there driving me nuts.

On the 31st BBROWN1644, repliedt to TRIGGER,  possibly tyre, remove mudguard and test. It was a last ditch attempt, never thought it would work,.. it did, no noise....

The Bridgestone 023 has only done around 6000kms, I've has then on a Sprint, XJR1300, and now my Fazer  without an issue, a great tyre, until now.....

I'm almost 80, had bikes since l was 16, worked on everyone I've ever owned,  thought l knew most things,  but,  lesson learnt, always come on here first to see if someones had the same problems

So a thankyou to Tigger for posting, and BBrown  for the answer....

Regards Fergie

  Rear conversion
Posted by: JoeGermanFazer - 19-08-25, 08:36 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (1)

Hi everyone,

I own a Yamaha FZS600 Fazer (RJ02) and I’m interested in doing a rear conversion. I’d like to fit a different tail light and indicators (possibly from the RJ03 or an aftermarket solution).

Does anyone know where I can get a complete conversion kit or the necessary parts? I’m also wondering if these aftermarket tail lights and indicators usually come with an E-mark (E-approval number), since I want to make sure they are road legal.

Any recommendations or links would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Newb with lots of questions - hope that's OK?

Hi All,

Just acquired a 2003 FZS1000 in lovely condition after being a Triumph Triple owner for the last 10 years and am experiencing a bit of a culture shock so would appreciate some advice to help me bond with it.

The motor seems really buzzy after the triple which is to be expected I guess but the slightest whiff of throttle has the revs shooting up making tight maneuvers tricky and has the bike jerking over bumps as I can't keep the throttle steady. Is this the norm with these? It has a Blue Flame race exhaust so don't know if the fueling is off?

The seating position is great for me as I had both wrists smashed in a bike accident a couple of years ago so comfort is spot on but there seems to be no weight over the front wheel making steering seem vague at times. I guess dropping the forks through and maybe lower bars would help - has anyone had experience or recommendations of doing either?

It came with the original owners manual which says to cold start the bike with full choke and no throttle but it never seems to catch without a fair bit of throttle - is this normal or once again maybe a fueling issue caused by the pipe?

Forks feel extremely soft - already had been set for max compression/rebound so once again any advice of beefing them up a bit? Thicker oil/stronger springs etc?

The gearing! Does anyone actually use first gear on these or maybe someone has messed with the sprockets on mine. I'm constantly trying to change up from 6th gear and it feels like it needs another 2! I know it's revvier than the Triumph and will take some getting used to but it seems horrendously under-geared. Must check the number of sprocket teeth.

Sorry if that all seems a bit negative but I really like the bike and want it to get the best out of it. Looking forward to interacting with fellow Fazer owners on here.

Thanks in advance for any info/advice you can offer  Big Grin

  Thinking of buying an FZ8
Posted by: HarryHornby - 15-08-25, 03:22 PM - Forum: General - Replies (19)

Hi All, thinking of moving on from the FZS600 to an FZ8. Chap on Facebook is selling a 2012 one for £2700 and he's in my home town of Sittingbourne.  FZ8SA

38000 miles.
comes with all keys inc red one and service history.
Oxford heated grips and R and G Tail tidy.  MOT 14/07/26
seems to have a pipeworx exhaust

Not seen the reg number yet so not able to check MOT history.

What do you guys think?  fair price?  What am I looking out for if I go see it?

Only downside, it's slow blue (I've only every had red bikes before)  Hoping the blue 800 will be the equivalent of a red 600 in terms of power ha ha

Downshifts getting herder when engine warms up
Posted by: PieEater - 10-08-25, 03:14 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (6)

Hi Fokkers - bike has done just over 60,000 miles and downshifts are starting to get harder to engage. I've adjusted the clutch cable from the top adjuster so there is some but very little slack, I've also adjusted the lever span outwards so the cable is being pulled in a bit more. Is it time to replace the clutch or is there something else I should be looking at first?

Posted by: JoeGermanFazer - 08-08-25, 08:53 AM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (6)

Hi, I’m Domenik, 29 years young, from Germany. At the beginning of July this year, I bought myself a Yamaha Fazer RJ02 with 31,000 km on the clock. On the very first day after registering it, the engine blew. Cylinder 2 gave up.

So, I was faced with the choice: either sell it or rebuild it. In the end, together with a friend, I rebuilt the bike, replaced the engine, and changed various wear parts.

During this time, I also realized how difficult it can be to find tips and tricks, since the bike is already over 20 years old. That’s why I’m here — to exchange information and hopefully both get and give help.
