  Replacement rear shock question
Posted by: SteveL - 23-06-24, 01:18 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (7)

Hi all, i'm Steve from Bedfordshire and I recently became the proud owner of  a 2001 Fzs1000 which I bought from a friend for £200. Needless to say it was in a bit of a state. After a fair bit of elbow grease and a new rear wheel, silencer and tyres the old girl is now back on the road. The bike rides great but is still on the standard rear shock which definitely needs replacing. Having read a fair bit on the forum I've decided to put either an R6 or S1000rr unit on the bike. I was wondering if any of the later shocks from either model will fit as there seems to be more choice on Ebay ? Cheers, Steve.

  IVANS JET KITS!
Posted by: RMT1983 - 22-06-24, 10:10 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

[size=1.45em]I'm delighted to shout it from the roof tops that I am now the UK supplier of the Ivans jet kits!!!

Moving forwards, I am offering the following services:

Ivans jet kits for the Yamaha fzs 1000 fazer:

Slip on kit - £135
Full Monty kit - £135
Seal Kit - £30, these seals are higher quality than those currently on the market and more resistant to E10 than your standard or cheap replacements. They do not include the replacement valve or the valve seal.

I can rebuild your carbs, which is £150. This includes a full strip down, ultrasonic clean + rebuild with the high quality o'ring kits as above. This price is in addition to the cost of the Ivan's jet kit. I will not rebuild your carbs or fit the jet kits with the original seals that are still in place.

Ride in ride out slip on, is the price of the jet kit £135 + £225, this includes carburettors which have already been rebuilt with the jet kits required + high quality o'rings, ready to fit.

Ride in ride out full monty, is the price of the jet kit £135 + £260, this includes carburettors which have already been rebuilt with the jet kits required + high quality o'rings, modified air box & inlet rubbers, ready to fit. You will have to bring your own aftermarket air filter. Filters can be supplied at an extra cost which is to be agreed and a deposit paid to cover the cost. I recommend either BMC or DNA air filters.

The carbs will be balanced on the ride in ride out with my carbtune balancing kit and with the engine running. Or, for the bench rebuild, they will be balanced on the bench, but I would advise balancing once on the bike with the engine running.

On the ride in ride out service I will also reset your throttle position sensor.  On the bench rebuild, you will have to follow the tps reset procedure which I will provide.

For the ride in ride out service you are required to pay a deposit which is to be agreed prior to booking dates, and the remainder paid as cash.

Payments via paypal friends and family or cash in hand. Im happy for you to ask around for my credentials, I ain't here to scam anyone and i have good reviews in the Fazer forums.

My location is 5 mins from junction 26 of the M62. I may be able to travel to you for an extra charge depending distance etc.

Commenting has been turned off. Message me direct if required.

  Fazer 1000 high beam issue
Posted by: Tommy666 - 22-06-24, 06:01 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

Hello I have a problem with my Fazer and wonder if anyone can help me out, the lights are permanently on with no switch provided to turn them off , when I start the bike and use either the flasher or high beam switch the rev counter drops briefly to zero and all the warning lights on the dash illuminate for a couple of seconds then normality is returned, however it only performs this unusual trick on first using the flash/dip switch ?‍♂️ I have never noticed this issue until I took it for the MOT and the tester pointed it out to me , I should say the bike passed its test as all lights work normally, a mate has the same bike and has the same problem, hopefully someone will have had this issue and found the solution
Regards Ian

What protection should I but on my battery contacts
Posted by: fazersharp - 19-06-24, 01:13 PM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

As per the title its a new battery and I have some servisol silicone grease, its says for switch contacts, ignition systems but it also says "high insulation properties".Eh - I dont get it why is it used on contacts if it has high insulation properties.Should I not put anything on, or maybe copper grease, vaseline or the servisol. I am only talking about a very fine smear. Or I also have some ACF 50 I could use.

Engine knocking noise at 4000-4500 RPM only Fazer 600
Posted by: kutce - 19-06-24, 12:16 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (23)

I just got a 1998 Fazer 600 and rode around 350km on it.
I notice there is a knocking feel on the bike at around 4000-4500 RPM. Its not possible to hear snce its only apperant when driving and the wind becomes louder. It it possible to feel through your legs, hands and butt.
I have no idea what it can be
- Knocking is not present with clutch pulled in
- Knocking is not present at low RPMs
- Knocking is not present or not feelable at high RPMs
- at 4000- 4500 RPM very noticeable constant frequency knocks
- No rattle on the cam chain at idle
- bike start easily
- No rattle when decelerating
- Bike gargles from the exhaust when decelerating, dont know if its worth to mention

What can this be??
I want to check the carburetor syncing then cleaning, maybe one piston is not getting gas and it hits a natural frequency of the bike at 4000 RPM. Next would be to check the chain adjuster. Hopefully its not the cam chain.

Thank you for the help already

  RIP EXUP!
Posted by: Andy W - 18-06-24, 09:41 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (20)

All things must pass..  :'(

A few hours spent trying to get the EXUP valve to operate but it must be slightly warped - cleaned it all, copper greased it all as I always do but this time...nada!

Removed it, blanked the hole in the mounting plate with nut/bolt/washers so running on full bore now!

I wonder how many other Fokkers are riding likewise?  :biker

Ayup,
New on the forum, I've just recently done my full licence having knocked about on a 125 for the last year. Picked up a 2003 FZS600 and absolutely smitten with it.

Bit scraggy on the plastics but is mechanically sound. nether the less waiting on bits to do a full service so that I'm certain its done proper.
may be overkill but gonna change oil, oil filter, sump plug, air filter, fuel filter, plugs and caps.

Couldn't help myself and already swapped out the factory end can for a delkavic unit, luckily the bike looks to have already had stainless headers put on!

looking forward to tapping in to the wealth of knowledge on here, even if I am 20 years late to the party!

  New Battery Questions
Posted by: fazersharp - 18-06-24, 04:32 PM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

Just brought a new battery Yuasa YT12B-BS to replace my 26 year old OEM one.So now we are not allowed to fill them ourselves it has been filled in the factory and charged. But you are not supposed to let them discharge - not good for them so without a "charged on" date how do we know when it was last charged. The instructions say if below 12.4v then charge before use. I measured it at 12.84 but I am giving it a nice charge before putting on the bike, from then on it will be on an optimate type charger continually.
Out of interest my OEM one was reading 13.1v when I took it off.So I imagine that it is shipped from Japan dry and somewhere in this country it is filled and charged.
