Electrical Issues - returning rider - 15-10-24 Hi all, looking to tap into the wealth of knowledge that is the forum. 2001 model FZS600 Been off the road road for nearly nearly a year due to many issues. Checking yesterday I have lost supply to the side light, rear light it not working either. Headlights have power supply dip and main (although bike has previously linked the headlights so as both sides illuminate) Brake lights work both front and rear BUT this also illuminates the number plate light? Indicators work fine Dash lights work fine Rear light not illuminating, number plate light not illuminating. Any obvious fuses or places to check? Only things I have done is replace the indicator relay to fit LED indicators and replaced the dash lights with leds, the headlights are disconnected as the faring is off. The number plat light coming on with the brake light sounds like a bad or crossed earth , but short of stripping off to look at the connectors on the rear light any easy routes to check? the main fuse box looks ok the fuses in there are all fine but do not seem to cover the side lights or rear light RE: Electrical Issues - BBROWN1664 - 15-10-24 The rear light is the number plate light. Front sidelight and rear light both share the same fuse so check that first. Don't discount 3x blown bulbs though as many people do not realise on of the rears and the front have blown before the last rear one blows. If the instrument illumination is working, this points to the bulbs again for me. Wiring diagrams are in the manuals in the download section. RE: Electrical Issues - returning rider - 15-10-24 thanks i do not have the rear panels off yet to check the rear light. So the number plate lighting up with the brake light is not an issue if combined light? Would point to the fuse for side lights and rear as no voltage at sidelight connector, and no rear light. suggests the fuse, is this in the box under the tank? i checked them or are there more fuses to check? the wiring diagram shows a parking fuse any idea where to find that? RE: Electrical Issues - BBROWN1664 - 15-10-24 Fuses are near the battery under the seat apart from one (maybe the one you need), which is under the rear panel. Rear bulb access is via the rubber flap at the back under the seat where the tools should be stored. RE: Electrical Issues - returning rider - 15-10-24 That the elusive fuse 59 that would seem to be route of my issue can i reach it with the rear panels on or need them off? RE: Electrical Issues - BBROWN1664 - 15-10-24 to be honest, i have never had to look for it but have heard some people were able to access it with the panel on - left had side of the bike from memory, hidden behind the frame rail. RE: Electrical Issues - returning rider - 15-10-24 Superb thanks for the input RE: Electrical Issues - returning rider - 16-10-24 Update it was indeed the 10 amp blade fuse no. 59. its taped to the man loom tucked into the frame at rear on the left side, can see if if you push back the rubber, but the fuse holder opens outwards so easier to remove the side/rear panel. All working fine now but if anyone ever loses the side light and rear light check here seems to be on the 2000 onward models RE: Electrical Issues - returning rider - 16-10-24 Also meant to add i changed the flasher relay for a no load dead easy and simple, i purchased from sportsbike shop, (Bike It was the name on the relay) i ordered the type with connecter fitted, so was as easy as remove the left side panel on my bike 2001 just an allen screw and rubber clips. Flasher relay is held in rubber housing and clips into the socket. unclip the socket and slide the relay with the rubber casing upwards to remove. Take the rubber off the old relay fit round the new one. Connect the trailing lead into connector on the bike slide the relay with the rubber cover back onto clip it came off. Refit side pane.
