On a 500 mile trip today my trusty Fazer 600 turned over the 100000 on the clock without missing a beat. Smile
Stopped for petrol 3 miles from home with 100200 was on the clock. Smile
It has been exceptionally reliable and only saw the inside of a dealers garage once and that was at 1000 miles for the first service to maintain its warranty.
In all that time it only failed to get me home once and that was at 15000 miles when the front sprocket fell off while I was returning from a road race and was about 25 miles from home.

  2008 FZ1N Instrument cluster
Posted by: bigian41 - 04-06-24, 02:05 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Hi,Do any of you have a decent colour wiring diagram of the instrument cluster please? Or is there one uploaded on here anywhere?I have an issue with the clock not keeping up with time when the ignition is switched off, I'm guessing there's a problem with the permanent live feed to it.Ideally I just need to confirm the colour of that wire as I've been told RED by one person and RED with GREEN dots by another.Hopefully I can then narrow down where the fault is and repair/replace the broken wire as necessary.
Thanks

  Clutch Cable adjustment nightmare
Posted by: grifft18 - 01-06-24, 09:59 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

Hi all, having a nightmare with my clutch cable adjustment. Had it all apart recently while doing different jobs, mainly replacing the front sprocket nut.  Come to put it back together, and i can’t seem to get it right, i think i have played too much with the adjuster on the crankcase. Each time I think i’ve got it right , I go for a ride and under hard acceleration it ‘slips’ which i assume is clutch slip due to dodgy cable adjustment.

Yet if I try slacken the cable at the crankcase, it becomes incredibly free / soft, even with the lever adjuster tightened.

How do i get the adjustment at the engine side right? And what’s causing my clutch slip? Thanks in advance

  Sprocket nut...
Posted by: Brrm!Brrm! - 29-05-24, 07:39 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (36)

Hi folks, savage knowledge on here hoping someone can help put my mind at ease or maybe tell me I've bought a horror show?

Just bought a 2003 Fazer 600 6 days ago - very pleased with it to say the least!

Pretty clean, lowish Kms (40k Kms).

Have done about 800k.s since then, long story boring - it has the old 9mm sprocket nut.

Have had it off just now to see what the thread is like - it appears good to me,doesn't appear to be damaged.

I have the appropriate nut on order (should be here Tuesday ?)

Question is - as I was putting the nut back on,nipped it up hand tight.
When I put the socket on it, tightens a tiny bit(with fuck all pressure) then goes loose...

Does this mean I'm in serious trouble or will the upgraded nut cure this/work and actually torque up?

The threads appear perfectly good both on the shaft and the nut itself.
When this goes bad,is it a case that the nut is gradually wearing the thread as it spins off or would it be noticeabley fucked?

As in, bare metal/wear marks where once there was thread - am I possibly ok seeing as the thread appears undamaged?

Any pointers, good or bad would be greatly appreciated,it's my only transport so need to get to the bottom of this ASAP!

Have a 200km round trip on Saturday and worried know I know about this, sometimes ignorance is bliss (rode home just over 200km at a fair clip - not a care in the world? nursing it the 25km round trip in an out of work now)
