  Ron Haslam Track Day
Posted by: Strifae - 22-08-13, 05:05 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (10)

Did the Ron Haslam Track Day yesterday and I absolutely loved it - was my first experience on a track and the instructors were ace - it's a bit pricey but would recommend it if for no other reason as a nice new CBR600RR which isn't yours and not your gear either (relaxes you a bit!)

By the end managed to get my knee down and got body positioning perfect - never experienced such a thrill getting the apex spot on for every corner on one of my laps - that bike was a beast in 2nd and 3rd gear when hammering it

Loved it![Image: 9a4a9ybu.jpg]

No knee down in that pic as was on 2nd ride out so was practicing body positing - would love a sports bike but only for the track I feel - no way could ride like this and live on road

fz1 sw motech rack with givi adaptor
Posted by: ogri48 - 22-08-13, 04:26 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

fitted it today ready for heading to spain sunday, after being advised that the givi one involves cutting the bodywork (eeeeeK!)
im reasonably handy with spanners but what a complete bastard of a job...at least i know the ins and outs of stripping me tail end down now. it would have saved no end of time if i just angle ground a slot to the hole where the indicator wires etc come through, but i hate bodging so did it proper. once done its a superb bit of engineering, highly recommended, just dont be expecting to "just nip out to the garage and fit that rack, shouldnt take more than half an hour..." as i did Smile

[smg id=1119 type=preview align=center caption="crash"]Genuinely didn't realise i had these. I've just bought a set of bars I can't get a refund on. These are new in the tin. Tin is a bit dented as they have been in the bottom of a box in the shed with a box of bike stuff i got with my fazer. They are brand new. £30 posted.

Posted by: FuZzBoM - 22-08-13, 03:25 PM - Forum: General - Replies (7)

Hi all, not going to lie this is a shameless plug for a mates company. https://www.facebook.com/themotoinsurecompany  :lol
but on a serious note they are competitive and good guys..

Give them a try for a quote, costs nothing after all.

I am going to ask about a forum discount or offers, will let you know if I have any joy.
thanks,

  Newbie Fazer 1000 owner
Posted by: Dave160311 - 22-08-13, 12:31 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (9)

Hi All,
Just bought my first Fazer 1000 last weekend, 2003 model. I've only ever had Honda's before and this is my first Yamaha and after reading various reviews I thought I'd get myself one.... Best decision i've made!
I've only done around 200 miles on my bike and have noticed a slight coolant leak coming from the middle of the block underneath what looks to be the starter motor. Only leaks after been running and only leaves a small babybell sized puddle down near the side stand (where its lent over). Just wondered if any body else has experienced this?
Cheers,
Dave

  r6 5sl forks for sale
Posted by: blackcabbie - 22-08-13, 08:12 AM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (5)

hi all

i'm selling my 5sl r6 forks...... these are in immaculate condition, slight marking on chrome where bottom yoke clamps around fork, but the rest of the chrome is perfect, no pitting, seals good, all adjusters work perfectly.

i'm selling cos i've gone back to original geometry as most of my riding now is 2 up.

this is a lower cost alternative to r1 forks, they just slide in to original yokes.... you use original wheel with r6 spindle (supplied) and original mudguard fits using additional spacers (also supplied)

i'm looking for 120 + postage for the forks spindle and spacers

thanks for looking.

dave

  Just a joke

The 'phone rang last night and the wife answered it. Someone was breathing heavily on the other end and said to her: "I bet you've got a tight arse with no hair."

She replied: "Yes, he's just watching the telly, who shall I say is calling?".  :rollin :rollin

  Brake Pads & disc wear.
Posted by: 69oldskool - 21-08-13, 09:24 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (16)

Plenty of brake pads posts on forum however...

Long term/high mileage owners please, any recommendations/avoidances for Pads based on low disc wear?

About to replace pads.
24k on bike, front pads still originals, happy with way they work & no real signs of disc wear.Shame OEM a bit pricey.
Rear pads also worn originals but only cos i swapped the caliper out.~ had new ebc organics on when bought bike,& who knows what before that or what the P.O. did with rear brake~ rear discs got a lip to rival Mick Jagger, so up for replacement in due course, may hold off on rear pads till then.
What'ya all think?
I'm not hard on brakes,(slow rider Wink ) would rather be replacing pads a bit more often than forking out for new discs.
