Looking for a good quality gloss black or carbon/carbon effect belly pan. Really wanted the old Skidmarx style item, but can't find any. Also, standard size solid black screen, and solid black headlamp covers, all in good nick. Cheers.

  Just fitted a Nitron shock
Posted by: Spannerhands - 22-08-13, 06:12 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (17)

Hi all. First post so please be gentle eh?

Been a lurker on and off for years on here and decided it was about bloody time I joined! I used to be a regular on the ukbeg Buell forum but I used to run a fist gen Fazer 600 as a workhorse along side a Buell M2.

Anyway, I've been running a gen1 Fazer 1000 for around 3 years now (had a bad crash on the Buell 2009) as my only bike and despite 53000 on the clock it's in superb well maintained nick.

I recently decided to do something about the (well past it's best) shock. After quotes of up to £250 to re-spring/re-valve the original I went the Nitron route with one of their "Sport" shocks. The difference is absolutely amazing! Despite feeling more compliant and less harsh the bike corners like it's on rails while swallowing mid corner bumps. Not cheap though at just shy of £400 with delivery, especially on a £2000 bike! Good job I don't EVER plan to sell it. Shame about the turquoise spring!

I'm skint now but when funds allow I plan to Ivanise it and look at the front forks, although I've always found them "adequate".

Anybody suggest which I should do first?

  how would you respond??

sold him a back rest with mini rack attached.
it wouldn't fit his bike without removing the grab rail.so I said OK I'll send you a replacement.and now he's complaining of a tear in his back rest pad to which he received undamaged
he used it for his hols with his girl friend and now he says it is ripped claiming that I should replace it.
I said I'm not possible for damage how ever caused by you.
also I said that these b/rest etc are sold as cheap as possible and the pad is for you back to rest on and not for you to pull or what ever.
these are cheap pads source from Vietnam and this how I can keep my price so low.
you only have to look at custom bikes price's these sell for a lot more than £130 and this inc shipping costing £37.20.
my profit margin is low and I have to pay full price like every one else have to.
so pad is cheap, I can send you one together with the replacement rack at your cost .
if you want to do that I'll only charge what it cost me and that is £8.97.
and this was his reply...
[glow=red,2,300]So you're telling me that you use a cheap *** pad made by a 6 year old in Vietnam, the tear is perfectly along the sharp metal pad, but it is my hand that made a percision cut in the material on the same line as the metal plate? Are you F'ing kidding me??!! It's a cheap *** pad. I got one of the defective ones, and you need to replace it.[/glow]
bare in mind he got it in good condition and used it during his hols for a week got home and some how a tear has appeared.
I would like to reply in a civil manner  but I'm not to sure how to reply in this instance.
so any of you guys has a gift of being eloquent with words then please go a head.

oh and he paid by p/pal 70 days ago I'm correct in  thinking that he is out of time to file a dispute??
from what I can gather on p/pal he has 45 days in which to file a dispute. john

  Replacement radiator
Posted by: Steve - 22-08-13, 05:41 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (15)

Hi all.

I've finally got some money together and I'm tidying up my Fazer. First and foremost, one of the things that I've been meaning to replace is the radiator due to some cosmetic wear. I'm not too worried about money- I'd rather put a bit more into it to get a better part if you're with me. However I checked with my local Yamaha dealer and frankly the prices I'm looking at for a genuine replacement part are extortionate.

What I'm looking for is some advice in regards to aftermarket parts. Thus far I've been using genuine Yamaha parts for both my bikes and I have little experience with other manufactured parts.

Has anyone had any experience with Delvic parts? Any fitting issues or the like I should be aware of? Or is there another manufacturer that I've missed?

By the end of my tinkering I want the bike looking as close to brand new as possible and if I can continue to put some money away it might even become a bit of a project of mine.
Any and all advice would be great thanks!
