Ron Haslam Track Day - Strifae - 22-08-13

Did the Ron Haslam Track Day yesterday and I absolutely loved it - was my first experience on a track and the instructors were ace - it's a bit pricey but would recommend it if for no other reason as a nice new CBR600RR which isn't yours and not your gear either (relaxes you a bit!)

By the end managed to get my knee down and got body positioning perfect - never experienced such a thrill getting the apex spot on for every corner on one of my laps - that bike was a beast in 2nd and 3rd gear when hammering it

Loved it![Image: 9a4a9ybu.jpg]

No knee down in that pic as was on 2nd ride out so was practicing body positing - would love a sports bike but only for the track I feel - no way could ride like this and live on road

Re: Ron Haslam Track Day - bigfootpete - 22-08-13

Those tyres don't look very slick?

Don't think I could fit on one of those - I did this in '99 or 2000, good day out - just remember the skills you learn on the track shouldn't be tested out on the road...

Re: Ron Haslam Track Day - Strifae - 22-08-13

They were road legal bridgestones - didn't catch what particular tyre though - think S20's?

Yeah I know that - Hence last comment Smile it does show that modern tyres are amazing things though

Re: Ron Haslam Track Day - Boris - 22-08-13

Oh the joys of a small world. I too was at Ron Haslams school yesterday also riding a 600CBR. In fact I was also riding bike number 16 in group 4 with Matt Bishop as my instructor. Bloody brilliant day. Will do it again and recommend it to any biker. 13,000 revs down the Dunlop straight before going into the Esses plus Redgate to the old Hairpin. What an experience and worth every penny. Smile

Did you get to meet up then?

Re: Ron Haslam Track Day - Strifae - 23-08-13

I didn't know Boris was there lol but probably saw him when we swapped over when he got back from ride or I did if on same bike - small world indeed!

Re: Ron Haslam Track Day - FuZzBoM - 23-08-13

Looks like an awesome day.. On the tyre topic the rumour is they use the T30 touring tyre and used the BT23 before it..

Re: Ron Haslam Track Day - JZS 600 - 23-08-13

My front BT 23 will need replaceing soon, T30 for me!

Re: Ron Haslam Track Day - Strifae - 23-08-13

If they were T30's - then they are the tyre I am getting next no question, Knee down, insane speed through corners and chucking it left to right through some of the corners. Amazing grip

Re: Ron Haslam Track Day - FuZzBoM - 23-08-13

Lots of stuff over the net saying they use T30's.. Think it's is because they offer good grip in wet and dry. (in wet possibly better than some sport tyres) Also with them being cheaper than sport tyres makes sense as they will chew through them at a good rate.
there is also a vid on youtube of Rossi on a FZ1 with T30 tyres.

Re: Ron Haslam Track Day - Camshaft - 26-08-13

Oh yes those days are expensive. Never had one though !
Will be doing one in two months I hope. Even with bring your own bike (scrut's incl must have hh pads) plus hire full leathers and boots all up AUD$700 (close to $US) ouch :'(

Ron must be mates with Keith, or enemies
