Hi all,
I'm new to this forum, but it looks like a good place for advice. I have a very sorry looking fazer 600 in my garden which was ridden in all weathers every day until about 3years ago. What happened was that I was attempting to change spark plugs and one disintegrated leaving the outer thread stuck in the head...quite possibly bits of insulation fell into the hole too. Anyway had plans to either fix it myself or pay a man too fix it. But then Oops I went and had a bloody heart attack and my health had to take priority.
Three winters later Now I want to ride again ... any advice... How hard to fix the cylinder head? Can the spark plug remains be drilled out/helicoiled. Cost? Presumably I'll have to get the engine out? Buy a second hand engine? Needless to say the rear calipers seized solid too. probably loads of other bits wrong but I would like to save it..it was a speedy comfortable trusty all rounder.
Has this spark plug problem happened to anyone else here?

When I was buying a bike I had to bear in mind that the bike had to fit down an entry and into the yard at the back of my house. My FZS600 is just about manageable with a bit of manoeuvring to get down the alley and round a corner into my backyard. I now want to change my 600 for a 1000 but am unsure whether I will actually be able to get it into the yard. I have the dimensions for my 600 but cannot find the exact dimensions for the 1000.
I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me the exact dimensions so I can consider my options.
Thanks in advance.

In my parents house, there is a multi-fuel burning fire that is typically fed with wood however there is recent concern about the build up of tar in the chimney flue which can cause chimney fires. I've done a little research about the best way to get rid of these deposits as they are sticky and can't be removed with a chimney sweep.
A couple of products have shown up as special chemical logs which turn the sticky tar into a brittle compound that breaks up. Other places have recommended burning smokeless fuels for a while as the sulphur released does a similar thing. My question really is has anyone had experience with either options or any further advice on how to get rid of tar from a chimney?
Its been in place for years and years, but recently we've switched our fuel source and this may be the cause of the larger / faster tar build-up. Unfortunately as this fuel is currently completely free its not ideal to switch from using it. Its compressed briquettes of saw dust that comes from a joinery business owned by family friends, although its not 100% clear as to whether this is the cause - its just something that was mentioned by the person who came out to sweep the chimney.

This is on my Gen 1 thou but must be generic. Above a certain speed my near side mirror flips back. Does anyone have a clue how to tighten the hinge up? Annoyingly I have to manually fold this mirror back when parked in my garage. Its ok day to day, but on certain spirited rides and above certain speeds it flips back.
