Not been around in these parts, it's been that long that I have disapeared, so I have re registered, I had a fazer 1000 in 2006 and sold it in 2008, a fazer 600 in 2006 as well , I upgraded the fazer 6 to a FZ6S2 in 2009 I still have it, but I have recently acquired another fazer 1000,


just need to fit heated grips a can and a givi topbox and pannier rack!

So as youve had both, how did you find the fz6 compared to the fzs6?


My theory is that the fz6 kicks fzs6's arse but only if you have it ready in a high rev position at takeoff ie when about to overtake a car, my old man has an fz6 & out on runs theres not much between them but the fz6 seems a little more nimble......however at higher speed roll ons in 4th or 5th gear i actually felt that my old fazer had some legs on the fz6 but im just not sure if that was down to me thrashing my bike as my dad typically likes to keep in high gears as soon as possible.


Also i think the old fazer will be comfiest but the fz6 probably has a better seating position for spirited riding.


& will the big mighty thou now be taking its place as your sole do it all bike or will you still keep a 6 ?

The fz6 fazer is more comfortable, as its bigger so better with a pillion, the seat is better as well, it's faster if you rev it past 10k, but slower if you don't, as standard it doesn't turn in as fast as the old one, but it has a better quality feel to it, the gearbox on the fz6 is carp, best to do clutch less changes, though its only got 7.5k miles on the clock,  I actually owned 2 fazer 6's, both fantastic fun bikes, I never used the fz6 this year, I have quite a few bikes,


I tend to buy them then keep them, only sold the last fazers  to friends, a few are classics, like my Suzuki X7 and my guzzi Le Mans, a couple of seventies mobylettes, a Fj1200, a Kawasaki gpz600r, a guzzi breva 1100, a royal Enfield, a ural with sidecar, a Sachs mad ass, the fz6 and the fazer 1000,


Currently the Breva, the X7, the ural, the fazer 1000, the Le Mans  are all on the road!




Actually I sold my last fazer 1000 because the wife took a dislike to it, I had been riding as you do, without her and she decides she now wants to join me on motorcycles, so first go on the back of the fazer, drop it into 3rd, at about 70, rev it to the redline, afterwards she complained of whiplash  , still didn't stop her from going on the pillion!

Good to hear the comparisons from the horses mouth as theres often the tit for tat about fz6 v fzs6, my dad actually said when i was in front i was able to turn in better on the corners & i put it down to me jacking my fazer up but now youve confirmed the same which is surprising & proves how well yamaha got things first time round.


& considering you have a collection & pronably could choose from an endless pool of bikes it's good to hear youve come back to a fazer, im sure that'll put a big smile on the thou boys faces .

I am short, so I dropped the forks through the yokes 10mm, made the difference, the fazer 600 didn't need that!


I had a few BMW's but I got disillusioned after the 1200's came out, I prefer the rawness, without all the electronics, fazer 1000's can be had for so little money, it's ridiculous!

What mark of lemon you got? Would love to see a pic. I used to work as a lad for D & A Rayner m/cs in Chadwell Heath (Guzzi, Laverda, Ducati, Yamaha), so always interested in those older Italian bikes.
I've seen some nicely done up FJs in magazines lately too, is yours standard or tricked out?

It's a mk2, though it was minus the fairing, so I fitted a mk1 fairing, made a clock pod and did a full rewire!





FJ is a little tricked, it has a fazer swingarm, a R1 rear caliper and thundercat front end
