Speedo, rev counter & warning lights playing up? - john roche - 02-12-13 I was out on my Gen 1 yesterday and my speedo and rev counter kept cutting out. Also the oil, fuel and overheating lights flashed on briefly a few times. Any ideas what's going on? Thanks John Re: Speedo, rev counter & warning lights playing up? - Captain Haddock - 02-12-13 Hi John, gotta be the main plug for the dash wiring playing up I would think, the oil/fuel/overheat lights will come on briefly when the power gets back into the system as part of the self check. Have you got the wiring diagram? It's downloadable from this very site. Re: Speedo, rev counter & warning lights playing up? - Tmation - 02-12-13 Knackered Battery does that, how old is it? Re: Speedo, rev counter & warning lights playing up? - john roche - 02-12-13 Thanks guys, I'll check the main plug, the battery is only a few months old and the bike starts easily. Cheers John Re: Speedo, rev counter & warning lights playing up? - brooker81 - 03-12-13 deffo block connector mine was doing it a couple of months ago its proper annoying like. Re: Speedo, rev counter & warning lights playing up? - unfazed - 03-12-13 Almost definitely connector corrosion Pull all the block connectors under the tank and under the faring infill apart, spray them with WD40 and but them back together. That should sort it Re: Speedo, rev counter & warning lights playing up? - brooker81 - 03-12-13 Mine was the one behind the speedo must have knocked it when fitting the new screen so may aswell check that too ![]() Re: Speedo, rev counter & warning lights playing up? - john roche - 03-12-13 Thank you all, will do ![]() Cheers John Re: Speedo, rev counter & warning lights playing up? - john roche - 15-04-14 Hi guys, I just realised that i never posted what I found. I took the block connectors apart and cleaned them, both behind the screen and under the fairing trim panel. at the same time I found that the earth connection to the battery was slightly loose so I tightened it. I don't know which of these was the culprit but all has been fine since ![]() Cheers John :thumbup |
