Valve clearance re shim or leave
Posted by: Slippy - 03-10-21, 10:23 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (1)

Just checked my clearances in my 2003 fazer has 27k miles on it. All the clearances are in tolerance but only just. All my inlets are .11-.12 and exhausts are .21-.22. Question is should I leave this as it is or go get it re shimmed so they sit on the upper end of tolerance as they get tighter with age! Thanks in advance

FOR SALE; FZS600 Fibreglass Belly Pan
Posted by: StreetFzr - 30-09-21, 03:06 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (6)

Hello all
As I won’t be needing it for my project, I have a used fibreglass belly pan available, condition is fine albeit needing be a rub down and paint. In white, has some stone chipping on the front where the wheel runs and a tiny little piece cracked off, on the bottom and not noticeable when on the bike.
From my 1999 FZS 600
Pics now added below
Only wanting £20 plus postage (around £8 I believe using most couriers, more if by parcel force)
Thanks

  Seriously considering breaking her...

With a couple of Fazers similar to mine selling for £1300 on ebay, I'm considering breaking by bike after seeing a post on the facebook page. Do you end up with 75% of your bike sat in the garage for months on end once the tasty bits have gone, or is there plenty of interest in parts now they're getting on a bit? Ta

"Smart" motorways, 1 in 10 cameras not working...
Posted by: Grahamm - 28-09-21, 06:20 PM - Forum: General - Replies (15)

The Highways Agency are being urged to reopen hard shoulders immediately after an investigation found that one in ten cameras weren't working. Also equipment failures have left operators unable to change signs or speed limits for an hour.

53 people haved died on these roads between 2015 and 2019 and analysis suggests that drivers who break down on motorways with no hard shoulder are actually at three times greater risk of tragic consequences than on normal motorways!

Smart motorways: 1 in 10 safety cameras ‘not working’, undercover probe finds

Also, down here in Hampshire, the M27 has been being "upgraded" for a couple of years and the completion date has been put back from September 2021 to Spring 2022.

This has resulted in an interminable 50mph average speed section and, last week, when I was coming back from Bristol, I was literally almost falling asleep, having to sing songs or recite sections of the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy in my head to stop my concentration from drifting Sad

As soon as we were out of that section and I could crack the throttle open I was wide awake again, watching vehicles ahead, checking traffic coming up behind, looking for people changing lanes unexpectedly etc... but we're stuck with the slow stuff for at least another 6 months.

Yamaha FZS 1000 Barkbuster Storm hand guards
Posted by: Nath - 28-09-21, 01:53 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (8)

Perfect time of the year for these.

These are the Storm 22mm single point fitting version. I had these on my 2004 FZS1000 for about 500 miles then sadly sold the bike. Reading through they fit from 2001-2005. There are a couple of marks on them via storage as hindsight been a brilliant thing, I should have fully dismantled them and put them back in the original packaging. No cracks or splits.

Ideally cash on collection and from nr Basingstoke, north Hampshire.

Seen a few posts about installing a new torque arm and mine was looking tatty (it is 18yrs old after all !!) so had a look on ebay and spotted one listed for an FZX 750 which looked about right so for the princely sum of £5.50 and £3.20 postage I took a punt .... Fitted straight on. Well pleased to say the least
