  For Sale: 1999, FZS600 - £880
Posted by: EctoGamat - 02-11-21, 10:56 AM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (4)

Edited to reduce price to find a home for the bike.

Dear all,

I'm embarrassed to post here as you'll see why below, I bought my 1999 FZS600 in November 2015, my first bike  off a nice gentleman in Cambridge via ebay and drove it back to London with a big grin. The bike had done 30,500 ish miles when I bought it and today it's only 33,650 ish. So it's been underutilised since I bought it (hence the embarrassment).  It's last MOT was in June 2021 and passed with flying colours as it usually does. It always starts and goes well.

It's lived on the street for half its time with me (further embarrassment) and recently got pushed over by some kids on their way back from school. This cracked the front wheel fender faring and caused the wind shield to come off. A separate occasion where someone knocked it over with their car caused the front left faring to crack. The cracks are cosmetic, the wind shield can be refitted.

I'm just not riding it and it's not living a happy life on the street. It deserves a good home and some TLC. It's got a pretty good service history and as I say it rides very well so hoping there will be some interest amongst the community.  It has a Scottoiler, it's datatagged I believe the exhaust is the motad nexxus system.

Below are some photos brutally realistic photos of the bike in question and Im ppen to realistic offers. The bike located in South London and looking for £1,100 £880, Thanks for reading.

Hello All,
Just a quick note now that I'm signed up to the club after a few weeks Lurking!

I've just bought a 1999 FZS600, which is naturally needing some work!  Have spent the last couple of weeks replacing broken exhaust studs, welding up the centre stand and getting most of the electrics functioning. Next up is the non-working speedo. Have already found a ton of info on this site, checked the rotor and the readings on the sensor wires with a multimeter - it does seem to be the sensor itself at fault.  I can't find a new one for less that £120 + shipping!

Does anyone have a used working speed sensor to sell?  I'm in South East Scotland so would likely need posting.

I'll post in the for sale/wanted section too! Thanks for any help!
Colin.

  Water Leak
Posted by: old son - 29-10-21, 05:28 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (16)

I have a very small water leak on my Gen1. The leak shows on the seam of the engine casing below the carburettors on the left hand side.  It is not obvious where it is leaking from. Has anybody else had this issue?

  Carburetor rebulid kit
Posted by: Bof - 24-10-21, 11:58 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

Hi
I went to take the fazer out.
It had been lying up for about six weeks or so.
It took a while to fire up and then ran rough it was then i seen the fuel leaking under the bike from what i think is an over flow pipe comeing from the carbs. The bike is 2003 so i reckon it is due a carb rebuild. Can anyone recommend a decent carb rebuild kit. I usually would be looking for one made by all balls. But they do not seem to do them for the fazer 600 . I have seen some cheap chinese ones on aliexpress and i have seen some on ebay but i dont know if the ones on ebay are also cheap chinese also. Or if Chinese is my only option and if they are ok to use. If someone could recommend one the have used or know of and tell me were i can buy it from i would be very grateful. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

  Trade in & DVLA
Posted by: Rob R - 22-10-21, 09:11 PM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

Hi all,
Part exchanged my no.2 bike for a newer one with a local motor trader at the beginning of the month. He assured me that he'd deal with the V5 change of ownership for the old bike. I used the DVLA's vehicle check and it hasn't been updated, so I contacted the dealer who said he'd passed the bike onto a third party and would chase it up with them. I've heard nothing for a week & the vehicle check still shows no change. Before the trade in I copied the V5- so I've still got all of the details necessary to do the update online. Question is should I give a few more days and use the online update, giving the details of the motor trader I dealt with?Any thoughts ????Rob
