has anybody successfully installed a mivv exhaust using the m8 bolt supplied, if so what wizardry did you employ, I can't get it to bite the nut on the other side of the footrest,it's just not long enough.

so there I am on the M25 today in the car in slow traffic because of an accident in the fog with my mrs and 14 yr old son going off to family dinner, when the car in front brakes sharply , I've left enough room to stop but have to anchor up sharpish and stop with about 6-7 ft between me and the car in front, then I glance in my mirror and see a fucking great big Volvo truck getting closer and closer and think it's not going to stop and my son who sat in the back is gonna get the brunt of it when this twat runs into the back of me at 30 mph or I'm going to get flattened as it ploughs through. I've checked my mirrors quick and saw there was a small chance I might get into the lane to the right but as I'm turning the wheel to accelerate out of the way BANG the wanker has whacked the back of me then because I've got the wheel turned (luckily I think ) the force of the push from the lorry has accelerated me into the next lane where an innocent driver has hit me square on my drivers door smashing the door and the glass in my face.
Anyway I've pulled over and got out with the other drivers involved and looked at where the lorry had stopped and it was about 4ft from the back of the car in front of me before the shunt and had I not turned the wheel and got shunted right that's where me and my family would have ended up.
Turns out it's a Bulgarian driver who speaks no English driving a truck for a Spanish company on his way to Ireland (don't ya love the eu) called plod who took 20 minutes to arrive and I thought they might have done stuff like breathalyser or check tachos etc but nothing just moved my car to a safe place and buggered off and left us to the traffic wombles from the highways agency who were actually quite friendly giving us tin foil to put around ourselves probably to amuse the themselves and the rubberneckers driving past watching us do our impersonation of a turkey wrapped in bacofoil .
Moving swiftly on and the reason for the post title , chatting to recovery driver on way home who asked what happened when told a lorry hit me up the arse says " was it left hand drive?? " to which I reply yes why ? And he answers "cos we have about 10-12 left hand drive truck involved in accidents a day"
Then our insurance co tell us how complicated it is to claim off foreign insurers and it may be a while before we can get any of the £200 recovery fee I paid and the £250 excess that's going to be deducted off the written off car settlement
Oh and while we were at the side of the motorway there were nearly 5 accidents involving lorries that nearly shunted people that had slowed rubbernecking at our accident. Mental absolutely mental

I have a 2001 600 fazer


This morning it started on the first time of asking with the choke right out.


As i was putting my helmet on etc i eased off on the choke, a couple of seconds later it slowly dropped revs and cut out. Started again and went through the same performance, it cut out again when i eased off the choke.


Its turning over but not firing into life


I checked the battery and it was fully charged, battery is 6 months old. New full tank of premium fuel in her.


I checked the spark plugs next and they where sparking put looked past the change date, the plug in number 3 was only half in, the washer was jammed and kind of cross threaded, this plug was very mucky and corroded, probably because it was loose all this time.


So i have changed all the plugs.


Took the fuel tank off and visual checked all lines where connected, all electrical connectors connected.


With trying to start it so many time the battery has run down to 12.2v so ive got it on charge as we speak.


Now it won't start at all and after all day messing about im stumped.


Some background on the bike.


Ive owned it 2 months, the previous owner had it 2 years and did all of 100 miles in that time. It's got 16,000 on the clock.


Its had new oil and filter, new K&N air filter and now new spark plugs since ive owned it.


When i put it in the garage last week after a 2 hour ride it seemed to be ticking over at 4000 rpm rather than 1200, not sure what was going on there.

I love my fazer to bits, and think it's possibly, no, definitely, the best all rounder ever built. But that bloody exup.......anyhoo, today the missus has an eye test in the heart of Bristol. Living in the Forest of Dean and Knowing the traffic will be horrendous from the Severn bridge onwards I take her in on the thou, with its freshly greased exup valve. In Chepstow I get the bloody 7k fault! Anyhoo, it was intermittent so onwards to Bristol, and I park on the pavement and get the toolkit out right outside the opticians. At least I can play the breakdown card if a traffic warden shows up. By now the fault is happening constantly, and it's ok in the city so I know the valve is stuck in the closed position. I whip the pulley of the valve and try it, valve turns easily and smoothly, so put it back on and slacken the cables a bit, reasoning that I've over tightened them perhaps, even though it's done probably 200 miles since I last adjusted them. No difference, so I take the pulley off again and check to see if it moves around hanging loose. It doesn't, both when I'm revving the bike and when I kill it with the kill switch. So all back together, and head home with 7k fault going all the way, and  get there wit h about an hours daylight left to check it out. Again pulley off and check, no movement. So tank up, left hand infill and fitting bracket ( the one with the reg/rec fitted to it) removed to give me a bit of access. I'm thinking the cables are frayed internally and locking up, but pulling on them near the servo pulley with needle nosed pliers they seem ok. I pull them back up through the outer sleeve to give them both an inch of play near the servo and try it again. Servo not working! Wasn't expecting that :-( anyhoo, there's a slot in the left hand side of the servo pulley, I can just about reach thru with a slotted screwdriver and put it in the slot and see if there's any movement in the pulley. It's stuck but suddenly gives a little bit. I start the bike and bingo, it's turning ok, and no 7k fault. I spray loads of wd40 into the servo pulley shaft as best I can, reconnect the pulley on the valve, and take up the slack in the cables, and try it again. It's all working ok. Buggered if I know...I've not used the bike for a couple weeks while I've been away working, is it conceivable it seized up in that time. Have sprayed loads more wd40 around the servo pulley and will give it 20 or 30 miles in the morning to see if it's behaving... :rolleyes

I'm beginning to suspect that my 02 foxeye has been lowered.
I'm not particularly tall yet my feet are flat on the floor whilst sitting on the bike and also it's a real bugger to get it on its centre stand, my thou is so much easier to get on its centre stand.
Is there a way to tell if it has been lowered.

I've only been in jail for 5 minutes and I've already been raped twice.

Hiya fellas, now I know you don't see bikes with rear fog lights and have seen numerous cars with rear fogs in their rear clusters. Is there any legislation as to why? Distance from running light? (about 6 inches max on cars). Distance from number plate? Anyone have any answers?


Reason being that I won't one - not for fog mind cos I can't remember the last time the fog was thick enough to warrant it (thick enough drivers all too quick to slap them on when it rains mind grrrrrr).


No, I won't one cos i'm sick to shit of being tailgated by arse wipes down the motorway - you can slow down, brake lightly or gesture as much as you want but some cnuts still sit there. I figure that one of my front spot lights with a bit of red film aimed backwards would help so any answers would be much appreciated.

Just above each of the header pipes on me thou there is a bolt with what looks like an inch of a wire wool bobbin, is that likely to be where the pair valves have been removed d'ya think?
