Have bikes really improved. I've been looking at the Gen 1 1000, last of the VFR 750s, the Blackbird, the 2002 Fazer 600, DRZ400 and the late carbed FireBlades. I reckon if these were still available new they'd sell by the bucket load (emission tests abandoned). Compare the new Z1000SX, a brilliant bike, with the Gen. 1 1000 and they aren't that far apart. If anything the Yamaha is superior in a lot of areas.

  Traffic update...

A lorry overturned on the M27 earlier today, spilling its load of Vicks Vaporub over all three lanes.

The Police have managed to get the traffic moving again, and don’t expect any congestion for the next eight hours.

  Using mobile phone when driving
Posted by: Dave48 - 22-12-16, 08:08 AM - Forum: General - Replies (63)

In spite of the generally accepted belief that using a phone while driving reduces concentration & the recent cases highlighted where drivers have caused fatal accidents due to using these at the wheel, I still see drivers daily using their phones.
There doesnt seem any point in government legislation that is practically unenforceable due to cut backs in police funding on the roads.
How about an automatic driving ban instead of some piddling fine or,at the very least, 11 points on licence.
As for the so-called professional drivers, lorry, coach, bus, van users-should be an automatic ban & compulsory retest
IMO phone use at wheel just as dangerous as drink/drug driving.

If you have to ask.....you wouldnt understand!

What is it that keeps us riding our beloved bikes?
No-one else in my family rides apart from one son who is a lifelong cyclist & a son-in-law in Cornwall who has a restored Vespa 90 which occasionally gets ridden round the Lizard.
My 2 sisters keep asking when I am going to stop(the implication being that they think its time I acted my age-whatever that means!)
My one granddaughter tells me Im not like her other grandad(who incidentally has never even driven a cage)-my reply was along the lines of"It would be a shame to have 2 normal grandads when you can have one who conforms & one like me". She now wants to know when she can ride with me!
I first rode a PTW age 14 & over 50 years later the magic has always been there.
I explained to a non-riding friend that driving a car is like watching TV BUT riding a bike is being part of whats going on around us..she didnt really understand but turned down the offer of a pillion ride.
Its dark cold & miserable outside but have some amazing biking memories this year to sustain me until the days lengthen.

Coolant drip above engine- Fixed! Thanks for all your help :)
Posted by: rw711 - 22-12-16, 12:30 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (65)

Hi I am new (put a thread on introductions a few nights ago.)

I've got a coolant drip above the engine it seems to be dropping down above no3, cylinder HT lead- then making its way out through the plug drain holes on the fins.

Gonna have to take the tank off and investigate anyway, but just wondered if anyone had any ideas? - it might save a bit of time?

also does anyone know correct diameter for exhaust clamp?
Cheers  :thumbup

Wheel bearing kit for FZ1 Gen 2
Posted by: Bruce - 21-12-16, 11:05 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (10)

Anyone replaced their rear wheel bearings on a FZ1 Gen 2 bike?  Looking to replace  mine as a preventative measure as the bearings collapsed on the last bike.  Having difficulty finding a rear bearing kit from a bearing manufacturer that i recognise.  Weemoto have a kit by 'Slinky Glide', who i had never heard of before.  Anyone used these kits (are they any good) or know where I can get another kit - I live in the UK.

Thanks

Bruce

Hello Everyone - Just joined the forum.  Bought a FZ1S earlier this year with full luggage.  Had a good number of bikes over the years, last bike was a 2000 Fireblade.  Wanted a do it all bike with luggage and good comfort so it fitted the bill.

Cheers

Bruce
