Any Gen1 owners short in the leg?

Greetings and Happy new year to you all.
Bit of an odd one this........
My brother, 5'07" 29" inside leg, who is a little shorter than me at 5'09" 30" inside leg, is looking for a different bike to go abroad on for a few days this year, with his wife and luggage. I've offered him the loan of my Gen1 but we're both a little concerned about the height of the bike for him.
I'm able to just about get both feet flat on the floor astride the bike. I'm concerned though that he may struggle. Unfortunately he's down in Plymouth and I'm in Reading, so it's a long way to go for him to just try it for size, particularly with the current conditions.
I know that he can try and find a Gen1 bike at a local dealers to try it for size, but was just wondering if there is anyone on here, with a similar inside leg measurement, that manages to cope with a standard ride / seat height on a Gen1?
I've read a few threads about lowering links on here and elsewhere, but have my reservations. Whilst the links wouldn't be that expensive, there seems to be opposing views on whether dropping the front forks through the yolks actually improves things or makes matters worse.
Any advice appreciated.
Equally, if there happens to be any standard height Gen1 owners located in Plympton or Plymouth that wouldn't mind my brother popping over at some point, to swing a leg over your bike and try it for size, that would be appreciate.
Many thanks
Skid

Cheap Bluetooth recommendations?

Hey guys I'm after a cheap Bluetooth thingy for my helmet. Nothing fancy just something that will connect to my phone/sat nav and communicate with another rider at close range.
I'm not one for wanting distractions while I ride so it won't be used for music, it's literally just to attach to my touring helmet for when me and my Dad go on longish trips (twice a year max).
I know there are brilliant units out there by sena etc but I can't justify the expense when it's going to see little to no use. On the other end of the scale I'm thinking the £30 Chinese things are gonna be crap.
So I'm just wondering if any of you have any experience with some of the cheaper models or could possibly recommend some?
Cheers

Fuel leak

Hi guys,
I need a bit of advice. I started my bike after a week or two of it sitting idle and had given the battery a charge. Bike starts no problem. There is a fuel leak, fuel runs down the back of the engine but I can't see from exactly where. After a few more checks I have found the fuel leak starts when I switch on the ignition and the fuel pump is priming. Then it stops. When I fire the engine the leak starts again. With the engine running it sounds rough, like it is not running on all 4 cylinders.
My suspicion is a stuck float bowl in one of the carbs. Is there a trick I can do to fix this without having to remove the tank and airbox just to get access to the carbs?
Thanks and happy xmas to everyone
Paul

Why so many Tracers for sale

was chatting today when walking around Webbs and saw the Tracer and it came up in conversation why there's so many low mileage ones up for sale at the moment and almost ever since launch. What is it that people don't like? Can't think it was the hype like the new R1 or MT10, just seems odd so many under 5k miles for sale...

'Pass' - Flash Headlight Switch and MOT? (fixed)

Right looked this one up and could only find a previous thread about why it was called 'pass' switch.
I was checking the lights today and found that everything seems to be working as it should using relevant switches.
But when you use the 'pass' switch if no lights on doesnt produce a flash, if lights are on just stays same not getting any main beam - suggests problem is at the switch,
The million dollar question is does this need fixed before MOT or will it wait? - as all the lights do work ? - do they test the flash function?

Nice dry day here today so i thought ideal to take next seasons bike for a quick run as id never been more than couple of miles and i finished all jobs on it.anyhow starts off button perfect--ticks over perfect--accelerates through gears perfect--very fast very smooth --now heres the thing if i am trundling along in traffic in 4th or 5th gear and try to accelerate away the bike sounds like its running on 3 cylinders and has no pull at all drop a gear and it pulls off as it should and continues through gears as normal--never came across this in 20 years riding any info /ideas appreciated thanks--
