Renthal Bars and Throttle Cable routing
Posted by: Tefer - 06-03-17, 06:22 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

Hi,

Fitted my Renthal 758's yesterday and had seen a mention of chopping 10mm on the ends but was waiting to see how it all felt first. I have the bars on and when fitting the throttle side it felt like there was a good bit of resistance, is this normal for other that have changed?

The cables sit really close to the servo too for the exup, i am thinking its been routed wrong.

The bike has heated grips but they are quite large compared to Oxford, how do i go about removing the throttle grip if i cannot quite get on with it?

  Suspension preload
Posted by: ben17484 - 06-03-17, 05:24 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

Apologies if this has been asked 1000 times, but I'm after a bit of help.I bought a FZS600 over the weekend from someone who was about 5 foot 8 and maybe 11 stone. I'm 6 foot 1 and 13 stone. He had the bike setup with 2 notches showing above the nut on the front:

[Image: 67708d1488810613-suspension-preload-20170306_130502-jpg]

And I'm not sure of the rear as I believe it to be an after market spring:

[Image: 67709d1488810638-suspension-preload-20170306_134945-jpg]

Two questions:

1) What would be the affect of me being taller and heavier and riding with the front preload of 2 notches instead of the recommended 5
2) Can anyone identify (or tell me how to identify) the setting of the rear spring from the above picture?Cheers,Ben

HELP really need some speedo advise
Posted by: Disorderlypunk - 06-03-17, 12:54 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

HELP
my speedo packed up the other day so i stripped the front down and found the rotor sensor damaged
---no diagnosis readings given on rev counter----(did once while riding but only once)
new one fitted and put together CORRECTLY no snapped lugs etc
still no speedo, getting no pulse signal to the spedometer (white wire) just sits at 3.8V
readings on the loom side of the speedo plug
blue and yellow - 12V /  white 4.61V / black and blue 0V and earths
if anyone could test that they have 4.61V on there white wire would be helpfull as that is the only one i dont think should have any voltage

all advise will be taken its driving me and my father nuts (we hate modern electronics)

I'm looking to replace the speedo/dash housing on my Gen1 1000.
Not bothered about the internals just need the full housing.
So if anyone has a spare set or dash that's not working but the housing is intact. please let me know the price inc mainland uk delivery.
(pics showing its condition appreciated)

  Tyre pressures
Posted by: Graham53 - 05-03-17, 11:28 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (10)

so I pick my bike up the other day after having the front springs changed to hagon progressives, so the guy says to me oh your tyre pressures were really low so we did those for you.
So handling mucho improved i went out today and front seemed a bit vague so I think maybe it's got a slow leak hence the low pressures at the garage... so I go to the petrol garage compressor and turns out they've put 44psi front and 48psi back !!!
Sooo I put them back to 36 and 39 as per manual and it rode like it got flat tyres , dodgy compressor gauge me thinks so go to next garage and yup it was right so I put 44 and 48 back in and it's improved again.
44 and 48 seems too high and so do I keep them or drop them back ? They are metzeler tyres so would that make a difference, anyone else got or had similar ???
