Cracking day yesterday dry roads happy days,
Posted by: Townhill - 05-03-17, 09:43 AM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

Yesterday was my third ride out on the Fazer since I bought it. The other two it pissed it down  non stop and my mint bike got covered in shit and salt.

But yesterday set off with wet damp conditions but the sun came out and dry roads what a difference. managed a decent ride out about 140 miles. We are not far off our glorious British summer (hopefully  Big Grin ). There are times during the winter when I think I wish I was in a warmer climate country. But when the sun comes out here I.M.H.O there is no where else I would rather be than riding around our roads.

There is a fantastic friendly motorcycle fraternity throughout Britain. Your never far off a café or brew shop and someone for a natter. Roll on better weather and I hope all you guys managed a ride out.

  Coolant change
Posted by: Tefer - 04-03-17, 09:46 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

Hi Guys,

I ordered a new coolant drain screw for my FZS1000 90163-06002 this seemed to supersede 90153-06029, it just does not look right though, looks far to big. But thats what fowlers says.

https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/parts/417...water-pump

The radiator drain cap looks a bit perished at the rubber, do you think this will be ok?

  New exhaust
Posted by: Kimkt - 04-03-17, 08:33 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (16)

Looking for a new slip on for my fzs, want something thats short and comes out low.
I have looked at some types, but can't decide what to choose.

Anyone with similar exhaust? Or other tips on exhaust? Dont want some big and bulky can.

Something like this is what i had in mind.

  Cylinder Compression...
Posted by: anutz - 04-03-17, 07:55 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (51)

Hi,

I have been having issues with the bike just not feeling like its got the power it should have....

It also seemed hard to start, always needs full choke and even after warming a little is easy to stall, unless its been ridden for a while and its red hot...

I have checked a few things, Carb Sync, all but one are spot on, cylinder 3 shows a little less reading than the rest, 20 less, so is an issue there.

I also took the chance to measure the cylinder compression and get from 1-4 readings of 110, 100, 115, 102, so varied and well off what the service manual states.

Will be trying to pop some oil in the cylinders tommorow or Monday see what a re-test shows.

Engine has done 47K, and i had to replace the Water Pump and rear wheel bearing when i got it, not well looked after...

I also changed all exhaust studs and replaced the cylinder head gasked whilst in there, replaced spark plugs also.

Anyone any comments, do these readings seem well out or reasonable for a bike of this mileage/age

Anutz

  Back on the road
Posted by: Grant1Shepherd - 04-03-17, 06:33 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (16)

Hi guys

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped me out with advice and offering of parts whilst me and my bike were recovering from our accident in January, massive thanks to Graham especially for the engine case as well.

Good news is the bike and I are now back on the road and she is as good as new, new fairing, new mirror's, new engine case, new oil and filter, new clutch, new cables and levers, and of course new exhaust (SP Engineering can sounds amazing by the way?).

Picture below of how my bike is looking now.

Really wanted to post this just to show my appreciation for this group, everyone on here has been really helpful and friendly and I just wanted to say thanks for it, especially through the tough last mouth.

Cheers again guys ☺
