New front tyre and rubbing sound? - Adscan - 16-03-17
I just had a new set of tyres fitted to my 01 FZS600 Fazer and i can hear a rubbing from the front? Sounds like the mudguard is rubbing but cannot see any contact upon inspection. These tyres are listed as the correct size so unsure of what could be rubbing. Anyone had similar issues?
Going to swing by the mechanic that installed the tyres and see if they can help.
Tyres are 110/70/17 and 160/60/17 Michelin PR3.

You sure it's not the chain?
When the rear wheel is moved it can alter the chain path enough to make it rub on the plastic chain guide, it's much more noticeable if you buy a heavier duty chain.
Once it rubs away at the plastic, creating a new path, the noise will subside, probably in a couple of weeks.

it is the front...when i turn the wheel on the centre stand i can hear it catching. I don't think it is the brakes as the discs are not even warm. The bike was fine before.

Being as you can replicate it on the stand, I'd start removing bits until the sound goes away.
Start with the left brake caliper, then the right. If it's still there, take off the mudguard. If it's still there after that - not sure?

Garage just been back to collect the bike...I will let them sort it out.

Again, you've displaced the front wheel, so it could just be the pads and discs a fraction out of alignment and may take time bedding in.

The speedo rotor can end up slightly off centre and rub.

can it be out if the speedo is working correctly?
Is it usual for a little brake rub after a tyre change?

yes but causing excess friction and/or breakage
if replacing yourself use a bit of grease on the tabs to hold it in place then locate outer part
- better bet sending it back to garage if your not a spanner monkey as the bolts on the fender are likely to snap if seen too much road and not enough lube (like my ex GF)
