  15w oil in front end
Posted by: Disorderlypunk - 15-03-18, 11:24 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (95)

ok so after searching the forum today some old posts talk about using 15w oil in the front end for a better feel
HOWEVER
no one seems to say what they have settings at for preload, compression, rebound
anyone out there using the 15w oil with altered settings (mcn settings go out the window with thicker oil)
forget town riding as i will live with whatever it is - i want it set for when i ride hard and fast so anything as a starting point on settings will be an improvement to its current state (oil change is needed so will do it as soon as oil is here)

  Fz1n disc bolt size?
Posted by: Dudeofrude - 15-03-18, 07:52 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (8)

Anyone know the size, pitch etc of gen 2 front and rear brake disc bolts? I need to reaplce them all with stainless and dont see the need to pay stupid money for 'motorbike' ones when any high tensile stainless bolt will do the same job.
Thanks

  Power commander 3 not working
Posted by: Mustang - 15-03-18, 06:54 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (12)

does anyone on here have any experience with these? Just got one for my FZ1, connected up to laptop to check what map was in it but won’t communicate as it needs external power. so I took sellers word that the map is off a FZ1 and an Akro can, can’t do any harm . Wired it up to the bike and fitted the o2 eliminator plug, bike won’t start. Just cranks, pc leds flash then go off. Tried to connect to the laptop with it on the bike, won’t communicate.
Have connected 9v battery to pc3 and tried to communicate with laptop, no deal.

Am at al loss really as it’s plug n play and the seller assures me it was fully working.

Seller is from Stoke way so fairly local, I’ve asked him if he can help.

In the meantime can anyone else help?

  Cheap security from Screwfix
Posted by: Dudeofrude - 15-03-18, 03:47 PM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

Screw fix are having a sale on some of their security stuff.
I've just picked up 2 ground anchors and 2 chains for £17!
I know they aren't anything special (I already have a decent chains and disc locks) but with summer aiming it it can't hurt to have a bit of extra security for the bike, even if it's a visual deterrent. At these prices is rude not too

Might be good for some of you ?

  Wheel refurbishment
Posted by: pretendertothecrown - 15-03-18, 02:17 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone knew of a shop that does motorcycle wheel refurbishment? I have a replacement wheel that needs stripping, repainting so I can swap it for my current wheel (which is slightly buckled)

I live in South West London/Surrey

  Less than perfect fzs600 headlight

As the title says it's not in the best condition but might be useful to someone. If anyone wants it price is whatever postage is, probably around a fiver or free to collect from Bristol.

  Forks modification advice
Posted by: Triggergee - 14-03-18, 06:19 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (33)

So I've been reading about Kebab19's forks mod and fancy giving it a go and have found a pair of damaged forks for £60 to use but as I've actually never taken my forks apart I'm not sure how far down the damper rods are and whether they might also be damaged, I'm guessing probably not but thought I better check with you bright lot just incase. I know I probably wouldn't be able to be 100% without getting in there. Also is the price fair for a fucked pair? Now hopefully I can actually upload the picture lol. Oh and does anyone know where to get the Debrix emulators from? Www.debrix.com doesn't seem to work

  Would you buy a Category "N" Write-off ?
Posted by: focced_off - 14-03-18, 02:00 PM - Forum: General - Replies (9)

Hello guys,

So running a new Vehicle check and my 'accident damaged' Fazer now shows as a Cat N.
Category N is the new Category D - the LEAST serious category, cosmetic damage only, NOT structural.

I know reading the words "write-off" sends a shiver down your spine, plus 'bike looping through the air over a car several times', kind of visions.  :eek  :lol

It was nothing like that, plus am already sourcing the Parts to get the bike back on the road - to RIDE (not to sell on)... Only front forks got bent / headlight / nose fairing cracked.

What's the legal process with a Cat "N", and putting it back onto the road (legally) - can anyone in the Trade confirm please?
On a sports bike this would be just a few pieces of fairing and she's as good as new!

  Long time no bike
Posted by: IffyBiker - 14-03-18, 09:43 AM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (11)

It is 20 years since I last rode a bike (GS 550). Looking to get back into it and thoughts on a FZS600 2001-2003 as a comeback model? Others considered were a hornet but veering towards the FZS.
Pros and cons appreciated
