  Replacement Rear Shock
Posted by: hawkesi - 17-02-18, 04:19 PM - Forum: FZ6 / Fazer - Replies (4)

I just did my full bike test last September and in November bought a 2008 FZ6.  I know from the history that the rear shock was replaced with an aftermarket one that lowered the seat height (for a previous lady rider).  As a result, the bike will not easily go on it's centre stand.

I want to put an original or other aftermarket shock on to return it to the normal ride height.

Any suggestions which shock and where to buy?

Cheers.  Big Grin

Morning all, this is my first post on this forum having recently bought a fzs600 2003 so hello from me... ?...it needs a fair amount of cosmetic work which I’m in the process of but my question to anyone who knows is.... I’ve bought some slightly smaller none led indicators, connected up the front... all works ok but as soon as I connect up just one of the rear the flash rate dramatically increases.... any ideas?

  Petrol Tank Question
Posted by: HarryHornby - 17-02-18, 11:53 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

When taking the tank off today I went to remove the fuel pipe.  I opened up the clip with some pliers and pulled the pipe and the whole metal tube it came out of the bottom of the tank rather than just rubber tube coming off.

Do I just push this little connector back in or should I glue it?  Has anyone else had this happen?  It's a first for me I must say.

  Headlight - electrical questions
Posted by: HarryHornby - 17-02-18, 11:36 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (10)

Morning focer font of all knowledge, some help please.

The previous owner appears to have done the headlight mod but it doesn't always work.  Sometimes I have one light, sometimes two.  What I've never had is a working passlight switch.

I'm replacing my fairing so thought I would have a look at what's going on, but like always, my knowledge is small so some help please.

I've got an addtional wire on my right hand lamp (when sitting on the bike) and I've tracked it back to the connections box.

This wire goes to a 20A fuse (seems far too big a fuse to me, what do you think?) and then it goes to a green wire that's been snipped.

I'm guessing this green wire is what operates my passing switch and they've taken this feed to do the headlight mod, would I be right?

Hopefully the atttached pictures should help show you what's going on.

So, questions:

Have they done it right?
Have they done it safely?  (that fuse seems far to big to me).
Am I right about why my passing switch doesn't work?
I'm guessing a loose connection is probably the reason why the mod works/doesn't work?
Should I keep the mod or put is back to how it was?  I'm not bothered about the twin headlight mod.  And if I do, do I just join that green lead back together?  There doesn't seem to be anything else cut.

Cheers guys

  Starting circuit cutoff relay
Posted by: PhilipM - 17-02-18, 10:25 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (7)

Hello, I joined this online club (I also joing the other one I'm afraid as well!) because I recently purchased an unfinished Malone F1000 that has a 2002 Yamaha Fazer engine installed.

This is my first post and relates to the issue of integrating a motorcycle wiring loom with the separate demands of a made to measure car loom. Once finished I won't have the Fazer instruments nor the handlebar switches, headlamp looms and main key. Also because of the nature of the vehicle I don't want any circuits like sidestand, lean or clutch switches.

It would certainly make the wiring easier and simpler if it was possible to eliminate the Starting Circuit Cutoff Relay, though looking at the wiring diagram this seems difficult. A Google search reveals a few people who have given it a go, but then given up. By any chance has anyone on here needed or wanted to remove theirs?

Cheers

Philip

  Reving Engine Sound
Posted by: MikeBike - 16-02-18, 04:43 PM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Hello all.
I just recently bought a used Fazer 1999 with 41.000 Miles. This is my second bike overall. My previous one was a Honda CBF500 from 2005.
I would like to have your opinion on the following: I find the sound engine is always asking for an upper gear from about 3000-3500 RPM. I frequently try to find a "7th gear" when its revving 3000-4000 RPM. At 5000 RPM it sound as if I am on the redline. Also the foot pegs vibrate quite a bit. Is this normal? I feel the engine sound strange as if the engine is stretching out and asking for an upper gear on low RPM. Would this be because I am not used to the sound of a 4 cylinder 95 BHP comparing to a former 2 Cylinder 50 BHP bike? Or there might be an issue?
Any opinions, specially from previous 2 cylinder lower BHP previous bike owners?
Thank you
Miguel

  Custom heated gear?
Posted by: Coppershield - 16-02-18, 06:39 AM - Forum: General - Replies (8)

Sick of this cold weather keeping me off me bike!
Any suggestions for getting custom heated gear?  I'm based in Chesterfield.
Gerbing don't do anything my size; seems they've gone down the Burton's route of sizing where XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXL means an anorexic stick insect.

Thanks for any suggestions (except "lose weight")!
