WANTED - 2005 Thou Ignition Barrel |

My key is finding it harder and harder to switch on my ignition. I have tried lubrication with a drop of chain lube but its not made much difference. The key works fine in the fuel cap and seat lock. I think it is just worn out, the bike has done 119k miles.
Does anybody have a spare they are willing to sell? I accept keys wont match but that is not the end of the world, I'd sooner have a reliable bike.
Many thanks

LOFOs: Whitstable Egg Run March 17th |

It’s that time of the year again. The Annual Whitstable Egg Run leaves Tankerton Rd car park at 1pm, I usually aim to get there for midday weather permitting. Either bring an egg, or do as I do, make a donation to one of the several collectors. There’s usually a burger van in the car park providing refreshments if needed, but I’ll make an early start to take in a caff on the way. If anyone fancies the ride I can meet Junction 2a M26(A20), but it would be earlyish around 8am.

Wondering if any parts from other models are easily compatible with each other?
From my other post about the 'starter cut off' - found that it's the ignition switch at fault - it has led me to confusion and frustration trying to find the correct replacement part.
My switch (2002 fzs600) has the 7 wires (5+2) but all I see are ones for up to 2001, or ones with every year listed, but with 6 wires (4+2)
I've seen a couple posts on here about Foxeye/Boxeye (???) and a mention that the 2001/02 fzs1000 ignition switch is the same.
Seeing the official Yamaha parts catalogue says they are "unavailable", is there another option apart from converting my 7 wire to a 6 wire which I'm not sure I have the necessary patience to do?
I'm getting kind desperate as bike has been off road for too long and I need to get it sorted for transport.

It had to come, having lived here for 20 years there has always been talk of MOT-ing bikes, finally, starting in April its going ahead for the first time ever...
The reason for not having a test is that goverments own statistics proved there is no connection between accidents caused by bad maintenance, the French way of taking your own responsibility of keeping your machine serviced, after all, its your life... However, the new test is basicly a visual check, and lasts for 3 years, so in a way pretty pointless. Having had tests every yesr in the UK its no big deal for me, and at less than 50 euro not expensive.... c'est la vie.
