Gen 1 Fairing Hardware/Brackets?
Posted by: bigmouth - 21-03-24, 12:42 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

Hello I got a new to me Gen 1. I also bought these lower fairings pictured. Can anyone help me with what brackets/hardware I will need to mount them? Thank you. Also, did the gen 1 ever come from the factory with lower side fairings? I can't find any part diagram that lists them.

  making the bike faster

Hello everybody, unsure how to use this site so hopefully i’m doing it right but ported the cylinder heads out (lots of imperfections surprisingly when cast) and milled it so that 99 octane fuel can now be used to my advantage for extra power on the 600 (engine was already out replacing the 2nd gear shift fork)  however this does mean regular fuel will cause detonation so premium only from now on yay

  Ivan kit installation and quickshifter
Posted by: Ilyak - 21-03-24, 08:51 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (1)

Hi, new here, thanks for admitting me, got bike at weekend, great bike ticks every box I had for a nimble fun commuter with comfy seating and a bit of fairing.

It did try and kill me yesterday in a Stephen King Christine moment, pulled it outside garage, started it on choke and roller shutter didn’t close properly behind. Tried a few times then went inside and fiddled then big electrical bang door open just to height of exhaust outside by now doing about 3k rpm enthusiastically filling garage, ran around MacGyver like to steal a fuse off something, still couldn’t work it then got trolley jack under door enough to crawl out. First bike I’ve had with carb and choke and no catalyst. Anyway still here, won’t take it personally.

I was looking at Ivan kit. It’s not short of power (and I’m used to a K1300S) but having smoother lower down would be good, particularly for the tedious London revenue zones. Does he still make it. Is it worth getting in US, headed there in a month.how much time and cursing and inadvertently buggering things up with stuck jets etc is involved for someone with above mentioned affinity for Sod’s Law to step in whenever doing a seemingly simple mechanical task.

Is there anyone who will do the job reliably for a reasonable fee - I’m in Kent.

Also thinking of adding a healtech quickshifter. Gearbox is great and can shift smoothly without clutch with just a tiny dip of throttle so thinking perfect for qs, love it on my K1300S. Saw a video of install seems simple. Any thoughts for or against?

Thanks for any input.

FZS 600 dropping to left side when riding
Posted by: gpspl - 20-03-24, 10:52 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (2)

Hello,
Looking for help determining why my bike Yamaha FZS 600 is leaning to left side. When I take hands of handlebars it wants to drop to left side. I can see that entire front suspension tears to right when I take hands off and that's why bike wants to drop to left. When I'm taking corner to the right and take hands of handlebars bike is self leveling itself to upright and then goes to left. when I pull or push bike from behind ( I'm not even siting on my bike) front steers to right. I tired replacing Stearing head bearings but it didn't help. Rear wheel is aligned with chain and point on a frame so I don't think it's a rear wheel problem. Does anybody know what to do?

  What the actual F.....

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-68600346

As a motorcyclist of over 20yrs I am beyond furious at the complete and utter disregard and lack of respect shown in this ad. I have to ask, where the Marketing/advertising dept. at JDS drunk or on drugs when they created then approved this. How was it possible that at no point, was in a shred of common sense applied..?

It’s bad enough that they have portrayed and painted all young riders, a law breaking scumbags.  But how exactly did they magically think that trainers and tracksuits were somehow now safety equipment of any kind???. But this isnt the first time JDS has portrayed young people as irresponsible and having no respect for other people or their enviroment.

I know JDS aren’t exactly highbrow, appealing to the lowest common denominator. But seriously, what the actual F.

Complete and utter imbeciles.

Act now: Motorcycles in bus lanes consultation.
Posted by: b1k3rdude - 18-03-24, 10:14 PM - Forum: General - Replies (11)

Evening all

The Government has launched a consultation on default access for motorcycles in bus lanes.  MAG has been fighting for policy consistency on bus lane access for many years and urges all riders to respond to the consultation.
Motorcycles in bus lanes consultation

As part of the Government’s Plan for Drivers a consultation has been launched asking for opinions on allowing default access for motorcycles in bus lanes.  The announcement was made on Sunday 17th March and the consultation is open until 9th June.

The Government’s news story led on other elements of the broad announcement.  Mainstream media reported on these other issues including LTN’s and 20mph speed limits.  MAG will be commenting on these issues separately.  However, MAG was quick to spot the launch of the long-awaited bus lane consultation.

Colin Brown of MAG said:

“It is perhaps not strange that a key policy for motorcycling slips past the headlines.  But for motorcyclists throughout the country this really is an opportunity that must not be missed.  The fight for motorcycle access in bus lanes has been fought one authority at a time for over three decades.  A consistent national policy is long overdue.  I would urge every rider in the country to spend five minutes responding to the consultation survey.”

The Government is suggesting two options.  Option 1 is to do nothing and continue with the patchwork approach currently in place.  Option 2 is to allow motorcycle access by default in all ‘with-flow’ and ‘contra-flow’ bus lanes in England and Wales.  Scotland has devolved powers and cannot be included in this consultation, but MAG will push the Scottish Government to follow suit to create a UK-wide consistency.  Northern Ireland already allows motorcycle access in all bus lanes. Since the promise of this consultation was made last autumn, MAG has been seeking to get the consultation extended to cover bus gates.  Disappointingly, the Department for Transport has not accommodated what we consider to be a logical extension to the discussion.  MAG will continue to push for motorcycle access through bus gates and other traffic filters.

UPDATE:

So the reponse is in, but there is more work to be done. The video by MAG on YT has already hit 112k views, and is is needed is for the same ampunt of peoiple to sign the petition which is currently at 16.2k - https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/712763

Any ideas?

2005 Fazer Thou Ignition Barrel - What else will fit?
Posted by: old son - 13-03-24, 06:44 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (16)

My ignition barrel is pretty shot and I've put an wanted topic in For Sale and Wanted.

Are there any other barrels that will fit? I've got R1 forks on my bike. The ignition lock only works when the steering is dead ahead. Does that mean an R1 lock might fit?
