OK people, in my quest to see how far I can go on one tank of fuel I think I may have stumbled on either a discrepency on what actual capacity the tank is or what I suspect is us being ripped off at the pumps. When I had reached 230 miles I stopped and checked my tank. There still looked a fair bit of fuel in the bottom so I carried on. I stopped and checked again at 250 and although not dry things looked a little bleak. I made my way to the nearest and cheapest petrol station when with in 100 yards of the forecourt the engine cut out showing 253.3 miles. As my intention was to see how far it would go I came prepared with some spare fuel. At a guess I must have put about  1 litre of fuel in before topping the tank with 21.49 l  of fuel. So either our tanks are bigger than we think or fuel pumps are callibrated wrong in order to rip us off.  I know I must take in to consideration fuel pipes and carbs but can not see this being as much as 1 and a half litres. Would be interested to hear your views maybe someone can enlighten me.

Swindon Town FC has defended its decision to allow a footballer, whose drink driving led to the deaths of two small children, to train with the club.
        Luke McCormick will join Swindon Town football club for a trial when he is released from Leyhill prison in June.
        But the club's chairman, Jeremy Wray, insisted his decision was more about rehabilitation for the footballer than for the club's benefit.
        "I'm not in desperate need of a goalkeeper.
        "This is someone who's served his time in prison and is now looking to reintegrate into society.
        "He goes back to the profession he was in before, can we help him by allowing him to come and train with us and rebuild his life and hopefully put something back?
        "He is full of remorse. He has spoken to the PFA about working with young players and explaining the pitfalls of drinking driving.
        "This is not about football, it's about Swindon doing what's right in the community - for rehabilitation."
        McCormick was jailed for seven years and four months in October 2008 after the deaths of Arron Peak, 10, and his brother Ben, eight, in a crash on the M6 in Staffordshire.
        Mr Peak, from Partington in Manchester, was at the wheel of the family's Toyota andalso suffered serious injuries that left him in a wheelchair.
        McCormick was returning from a team-mate's wedding and was found to be twice the legal drink-drive limit at the time of the crash.
        He had been seen with his friends drinking beer and downing shots of Sambuca at the reception.
        The 28-year-old has been training with the Swindon club while on day release from prison since January.
        The dead boys' mother, Amanda Peak, has said the club's decision to take on the former Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper feels "like a kick in the stomach".
        "Swindon might be a family club but now they are hiring a man who has torn my family apart," she told The Sun newspaper.
        Mr Wray added: "Our view is that it is very easy to say that it's too difficult a subject to bother with.
        "We thought long and hard about it, and it has to be made clear that everybody's thoughts can only go to the family of those two young boys and their father who was badly injured.
        "Tragedy is a word used too often, but this was a tragedy and it can never be changed.
        "He (McCormick) will live with what has happened every day of his life but he has the chance to give something back, to show the tragedies of drink-driving."

As above, mirror boot needed for my beloved Fazer as mine has split The left one is needed, I mean left as you sit on the bike. Has anyone got a spare one anywhere?

Well, had a rear wheel punctue at 110mph whilst on the autobahn on my fzs1000. Thank goodness it wasn't an instant blow-out. First thing I noticed was the bike pulling strongly to one side, like it does in extreme side winds. Then, moments later as I went round a moderate bend, the laws of steering physics went walkabout and it brought back memories of evil-handling pigs of bikes I had in the early seventies - except worse.

Pulled over onto the hard shoulder (why's it called that anway?), checked for cause, found nothing, rang wife to bring van and ratchet straps and an hour or so later was back home, scanning the internet for a replacement.

And the moral (in this case anyway) .... by a cheap and reliable van and you'll not regret it. I bougfht a 98 peugeot expert bog standard diesel a few months ago, for £400 including full MOT and 6 months tax (London emissions regs forcing a lot of van sales), for our three greyhounds, but it's been brilliant as a general mover/shifter and now, recovery vehicle. Guess if I sold it tommorrow, I'd get most of my money back! Not that I will.

I have owned my Fazer 1000 since 2004, and in that time I have done a few modifications to get it to be the bike I want it to be.


Here's a brief summary of the work done:


2002 Fazer 1000
R1 front forks with Maxton internals
renthal 758s
Wilbers rear shock with hi and lo speed damping
ivanised.
Mivv GP carbon exhaust
air filter of some description I cant remember


The bike has never let me down in 28,000 miles, but I went out for a blast up hartside with my mate on his 08 fireblade, and I normally don't ride that fast.
When pushing on I started to notice the front end pushing wide and not wanting to hold its line.  I would call it a bit chatter too (If was Casey Stoner)


I like the front end of my bike to go exactly where I want it to go, so I need to do something about this.


Any ideas? I set the suspension up years ago when I fitted it and I never had any problems, but then I never rode that hard.
I took my dads R1200GS (also wilbers equiped)  out the other day with the same lad on a fireblade, and I felt total confidence in the kicking its head in everywhere, and I never had any problems with the front end pushing wide, at the same sort of pace.


Any ideas?

i have 'aqquired' a haynes manual pdf , however it is missing the 'daily pre-ride checks' where this info is.


any help would be great.

I'm thinking of buying one but wondering if it's worth it? I don't know if my next bike will have carbs and it seems abit expensive if I can only use it on the fazer every once in a while.
Are there any other uses? The website says it can be used on injection engines but is this just marketing spiel?
