  Might this be summer?

The grey overcast of the last few days is burning off above Birmingham.Theres even some "Mr Blue Sky" looking north. Better pay a visit to the petrol pumps-hope its not another false alarm. Plan to go riding with friend later in week who has come back to bikes after 30 years "caging"! Smile

  datatool alarm
Posted by: paul1606 - 20-05-12, 09:31 PM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

Just been on a 6 day jolly to france/italy & switzerland and had a weird thing happen to the alarm. just come out of one of the tolls in france & parked up to wait for the others turned the bike off & the alarm armed itself as normal when everyone arrived bloody thing would,nt disarm.

I tried my spare fob still no joy kept pressing the button on/off for ages suddenly it disarmed i was able to start the bike turned around to see one of the other lads having the same problem with his meta alarm finally his deactivated & we were able to get on our way looked and noticed just behind the trees where we were stopped there was  a small sub station.

the only thing i can think of is that the sub station was interferring with the remote signal has anybody else had this happen?? neither of us had any trouble before or since

Fazer!

After more than a year (or 2) trying to decide what bike to get to replace my FZS600 (it just does so much so well...) I have finally decided to get a shiny FZ1!

Its a real beauty (totally unmodified apart from heated grips and an alarm) and hopefully picking it up next Saturday - so excited! this is only my 2nd bike (have the 600 Fazer for over 4 years)

I am gonna miss my old bike but looking forward to the power of the litre bike!

one question - how quick do these alarms drain the battery if not riding for say a week? or 2? its a Datatag Cat 1 apparently

  fazer 600 1998 running problems
Posted by: marty3000 - 20-05-12, 07:38 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

Hi I have a brain teaser, my Fazer starts fine, runs fine for a few miles then starts to play up. Especially in and around town with stop start traffic. If on the open road and I keep the revs up high no problems. At low speeds and low revs problems start. When I open the throttle to overtake the bike dies and then surges forward with excess power because I have to open throttle that extra bit to overtake.  Then at high revs bike runs fine, for while then the cycle starts again....???

I have also noticed that my full gauge has a life of its own, riding along now and again my gauge will go to full (when I have between 1/4 and 1/2 a tank of fuel), and problems as above appear worse than usual. The needle on the gauge will read what it wants when it wants and then return to 'normal' reading. The above symptoms get a little better but do not improve completely???

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
