fzs600 testing
haven`t been on here for a few days......busy testing jet sizes etc with a guy my mate knows whos well into carb tuning etc. between us we decided to go up one size on the main jets only as pilot jets seemed to give required response. end result is above. took it out and bugger me, it reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally flies now. wish it was mine :\ :lol :lol  next thing i will keep an eye on will be increase in mpg. well chuffed. oh the boss was so pleased she didnt hesitate filming the vid when i said i was going to upload same. hope you enjoy. one final footnote: the db killer is out because the boss likes to run it without and menace the locals. :rollin :rollin :rollin  makes no difference to performance in or out.............oooooooooooooooooooooeeeeerrrrrrrr missus Wink

Help needed! I think I have just destroyed my gearbox!!!
Posted by: 1967fazer - 27-05-12, 04:47 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (19)

Been out for a ride today and on the way back I went to over take a van that was travelling really slow, 2nd gear, gave it some throttle and was passing said van when I hit a bump in the road and the front end came up, went to change in to third to bring it down and as I did it hit a false neutral, pulled the clutch in, clicked it up and it wouldn't engage properly! I managed somehow, to get passed the van and also manged to get a gear, but with a very nasty clattering/metallic noise coming from the 'box! As soon as I could, I pulled over. Now when its in neutral its clattering and when I pull the clutch in, the noise goes away. I can still get gears and drive to the rear wheel, but not with out nasty sounds coming from the box. Got a very nice man to ferry the bike home and will be taking it to the garage tomorrow.
The bikes done 32000 miles, its a gen 1 and it had plenty of oil in there.
Anyone got any clues?  Am I looking at serious expense, which will probably mean the end of my summers biking or could it be something less scary? I'll be doing the work myself, so any help/advice will be helpful.
Help! :'(

oil change - magnetic plug, oil & filter ?
Posted by: Enceladus - 26-05-12, 08:02 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (19)

i'm not sure when my bike last had an oil change so i'm planning to give it a treat in the near future Smile
does the fazer come with a magnetic sump plug as standard ?
if not, are they a good thing to have ?
also,
i assume i can't just put some castrol gtx in that i use for the car !
what is a good oil to use ?
whilst i'm at it i might as well replace the filter as well.
what is a good make filter please ?
thanks for your help Big Grin

discovered this by accident a few weeks ago, and only remembered to share today whilst washing my "baby" !
to avoid water marks after washing, put some dishwasher rinse aid in the water !
no need to dry off after washing Smile
job done Big Grin

  Lifesaver ! ! !
Posted by: fz6novice - 26-05-12, 06:52 PM - Forum: General - Replies (16)

Had quite the eventful ride today hoping to take my fz6 on a tour of North Wales only got as far as Warrington on the M6. My trusty Caberg 407 lid kept lifting its visor every time I did a lifesaver just as well I had my internal sun visor down. Decided enough was enough at Warrington and limped home on the A49 at a more sedate speed with no problems. The joys of the open road eh ?
