  Front discs locked up.
Posted by: D4Delta - 29-01-13, 05:42 PM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (6)

I'm still fairly new to the Fazer so this might be a basic question - The bike has been in my garage for the period of the snow but I noticed rust on the discs and cleaned them off with acetone as per the workshop manual. Now 3 days later the front discs have locked completely. Iv'e tried rocking the bick but can't get it off the stand. Is there an easy way to free them without taking everything to bits?

As acetone is used to clean them would it be any use running some on the brake pads?

Advice would be much appreciated.

David.

  Market Harborough/Leicester Riders
Posted by: simonm - 29-01-13, 04:24 PM - Forum: Events, Meets, Ride outs etc - Replies (20)

Hi all,

I've just bought a W reg gold Fazer 600.  I passed my test a couple of weeks ago so this is my first bike.

I'm looking for meet ups, ride outs or anything that will teach me about bikes, the people that ride them and the community in general.

I'm based in Market Harborough, LE16.  Anyone near here interested ?

Cheers
Simon

  Clutch lever catching Pass/flash switch
Posted by: FuZzBoM - 29-01-13, 02:45 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Hi all, I have just noticed my clutch lever is slightly catching my pass flash switch when you pull it in. not enough to make me flash while changing gear but it is visibly rubbing a flat edge to the switch.
The bike was purchased with a set of renthal bars but in truth I cannot see how the standard bars would make any difference to the lever position.
Does anyone else suffer this problem?

I am wondering if it possibly has a pattern lever or something not being exactly the right shape. It is however tempting me with getting some CNC levers to see if his improves it at all.  :lol

Any suggestions welcomed. thanks

  Best deals for tyres?
Posted by: DaxPlusPlus - 29-01-13, 02:34 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (24)

Hi All,

Just wondering what others did for finding the best deals for tyres? I've searched through the forums and seen loads of recommendations for various makes but was wondering where people bought them from.

Demon Tweeks seem to be reasonably priced, M&P seems to be expensive in comparison. Ebay, generally, seems to more expensive. Black Circles seems to have a poor selection (and more expensive).

That was only with about an hours worth of searching and was wondering if you lot had some better sites to try?

Cheers.

I'm expecting a delivery today of some parts I've ordered, as yet no show.
I've tried all the usual tricks, been to the toilet 3 times, stood outside in the back garden, nipped to the corner shop and still no luck, as a last resort I thought I'd post this on here, fingers crossed.  :\

  New carbs!!!!!!!!!but.....
Posted by: reillypadraig - 29-01-13, 01:21 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (28)

Got a set of carbs!! Very clean compared to my last set, all was taken apart, inspected and put back together, had a fuel leak in 2 bowls (seals weren't doing the job) but I used 2 of the bowls I already had from last set, so I tightened the idle mixture screws in till seated and turned out 2 full turns, set the tps, adjusted the carb synch screws until they were all fairly even(by sight) will get the proper carb tune tomorrow,

...... But went to start the bike, wudnt turn over even though it was still warm from the last run I gave it on the last carbs, so I went on using full choke but then died, so I opened the fuel mix screws 1 turn each and it ran, bit poor though, so I opened them again a half a turn and it ran ok ish but still everytime I give throttle it smothers and at that setting I have fuel spitting out of the exhaust, so I turned the mix screws back down and it cuts out,

So took them out, checked everything, passages and air compressed out everything, looks too clean to have blockages but done it all the same, so set idle screws to 2 turns from seated again and put back it, almost started and tried starting by giving throttle and half throttle and full throttle but it made it worse, only starts on choke and no throttle????

Any ideas guys?
