  Electrical problem
Posted by: chewie - 06-06-13, 05:07 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

Hi all, I'm a recent FZS600 99 plate purchaser and enjoying it immensely!  However I'm not very experienced or tech savy in the servicing department to say the least!  I have been experiencing a problem with the electrics cutting out!!  It's not happening all the time and is very intermittent.  Sometimes when I pull up the engine cuts out with no electrics or lights on the dash.  I can usually get it started again by switching the engine stop on/off and firing it up.  Other times the engine keeps running but I notice the odometer and the rev counter have died for a few seconds and fluctuate on/off.  This has also happened when I've been travelling at speed.  I suppose the lights might be going off as well but due to mainly riding during the day, don't know for sure!

Any ideas?  laymans terms pls  :o

Jntan Top Box and Mounting Plate
Posted by: jenic - 06-06-13, 05:00 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

I think this is the 30l model, a little scuff on the rear reflector but not bad at all. Includes mounting plate, 2 keys.

It's the same as this one here - Link

£15 collected from Halifax, not worth posting due to size and weight.

Oxford Panniers and Tank Bag for sale - BOTH NOW SOLD
Posted by: PhilClark - 06-06-13, 01:12 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (5)

Hey again, as I'm selling my fazer I'm no longer going to need my soft luggage as I've got 'Ardcases' on my new bike.

They're Oxford X60 Panniers and a Oxford X30 expandable Tank Bag, quick check online shows they're still retailing at approx £120 and £90 respectively. Im open to offers but looking for about £90 and £70, really great luggage and can fit loads of stuff in there. Very secure and quick to fit on Fazer, though would be suitable for most makes and models of bikes.

Please see picture below, feel free to contact me for more info/pictures. Can post anywhere at extra cost, happy to have collected or if you're not to far away I can even drop off.

  '03 plate fzs600 - SOLD
Posted by: PhilClark - 06-06-13, 12:55 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (2)

Hi guys and girls, am putting my fazer up for sale as I'm off on a RTW trip for the best part of a year. As much as I'll be sad to see him go, I could kind of do with the extra money to keep the trip going a bit longer (i.e. beer and petrol money  Wink ). Is currently listed on MCN but I'll part with it for a bit less if some one from here wants it (previously a member but kind of forgot my login details). So any way here he is in all of his glory;

Bike Make : Yamaha Bike Model : FZS 600 Fazer (Fox-eye) Year : 2003, '03 plate  Price : £1800 (HPI clear and theft checked - see MCN advert)MOT/ TAX DETAILS : Currently SORN, MOT till 24/06/13 (will fly through it no problems as it always has!) Mileage : 18,414 miles Colour : Red Extras : Pryamid rear hugger, Fenda extenda, K+N air filter, Haynes manual, complete original tool kit, owners manual, lock and chain, mini indicators (including spare and original indicators), Tank pad, Set of replacement bulbs and spark plugs, Oxford bike cover, Data tagged. Overall Bike Condition : Very good except for a small crack on the front fairing (see pictures) and the odd mark as usual for a bike of this age. With the exception of a couple minor aesthetic details the bike runs perfectly has been very well looked after and is still a low mileage for its age. Tyre/Chain/Sprocket Condition : New Michelin Road Pilot 3's (only had 1000m put on them, good as new!) original chain and sprocket still in good condition. Service History/Receipts/Recent Service work : First 3 stamps in service book, carried out all servicing myself since as it's a really easy bike to work on. Oil and filter changed approx 500 miles ago, coolant changed at the same time. Non Restricted/Shop Restricted/Factory Restricted : Non-Restricted Bike Location : Reading, Berkshire Any Other Relevant Info : http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bikes-...y=0.000000

Viewings can be arranged pretty much any day/time of the week so long as you give me a little bit of a heads up. Please see photo's below, don't hesitate to contact me if you're interested or would like some more information/pictures. Bikes never really been pushed hard as I really just used it for commuting. Also selling a set of oxford panniers and tankbag which I'll list up on here.

Contact details: 07515431643 or Philip.j.clark@aol.co.uk Please contact me by either of these as I'll be able to reply a lot quicker. (add photos too..)

  Lowering an FZS 600 2002
Posted by: edoffroad - 06-06-13, 11:53 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (28)

Morning all

Being a bit of a shorty (5'7" on a good day) i feel that I need to lower my fzs600 2002 to get both feet flat on the floor and am looking at buying a lowering kit supplied by Lust Racing or something similar. I have been advised that my suspension is already on a low setting.

Has anyone had any experience of these kits and are they fairly easy to fit

Thanks, Ed  Smile

  Buying an FZS600
Posted by: Derpdiherp - 06-06-13, 11:30 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (20)

Hi all, found a low mileage 1999 fzs600 that I'm buying for after my test in a week. I've got a few questions about what to look for so far as common problems.

I know that there is an issue with the front sprockets nut, I've informed the dealer about this and am hoping he keeps his word and checks it over, I'll check it myself when I get a chance anyway, if it is wrong, has anyone had any luck with Yamaha service centres in or around Manchester UK?

Are there any more common problems with the bike that I should look out for before using it regularly?

And other than the headlight mod (it's the eighties disco version before the foxeye) are there any other cheap mods that should be done to get the best out of it?

Thanks guys
