  Gen 2 top box options
Posted by: otley - 05-06-13, 08:24 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

Hi. I'd like to fit a small (~25litre) top box to my 09 Gen 2 Fazer. Are there any that don't need permanent modifications to the bike to fit? I looked at the Givi mounting instructions and theirs seems to need the rear side panels cutting away slightly to clear the mounting frame.
I also wondered about buying a spare rear seat, cutting off the cover and padding and somehow screwing a top box mount to what remains. Has anyone tried this?
Thanks

  Centre stand-beware corrosion!
Posted by: Dave48 - 05-06-13, 07:45 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (16)

Noticed it was harder to pull 600 onto stand than my thou. Noticed the stand feet were out of line and then saw metal of bridge piece was paper thin & holed! :eek  The only evidence of winter use is on the front & underside of bike so looks like the combination of 10 British winters and road salt has triumphed. Will NOT be using stand until welded/replaced. So.... might be worth having a close look @ yours to avoid any disasters! :'(

Cost of a new Cam chain?
Posted by: HazzaBui - 04-06-13, 11:42 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (24)

So a Tuesday evening spent pushing my bike 4 miles home, rather than enjoying a blast down some nice twisties, and it's looking like a new cam chain is on the menu for me.
Anyone had to have this done recently that might be able to offer a guide towards the pricing?  It's certainly not something I was hoping to have to pay for, after getting a ton of other stuff done last month, only to have to get the engine opened up again for this job.

Any info much appreciated!

A taste of the dark side.. Hayabusa
Posted by: FuZzBoM - 04-06-13, 11:18 PM - Forum: General - Replies (17)

Well this evening I got a play on a brand spanking new Hayabusa.  Big Grin

I love my thou but them things are in a totally different class all together..
The power is effortless. nice and gentle but when you open them up it is like warp speed.. Very quick but so easy to control at high and low speed. suspension soaks up everything so well.
If I have one complaint it was the standard screen being too low, a little higher and it would have been perfect. When you tuck your head down it is eerily quiet and the speed you are doing is very deceptive!

Made my thou feel like a toy and more like a revvy 600 in comparison.. I am smitten, I want one lol

  Fazer 600 stuff for sale
Posted by: Agent Picolax - 04-06-13, 08:52 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (9)

Having recently swapped my '52 plate foxeye 600, I have a few bits and bobs for sale.........

Haynes manual (vgc), Haynes No. 3702, listed as covering the FZS600 '98 to '01, but is also suitable for most things on the '02 to '03 foxeye model as the bikes are mechanically very similar. It also covers the YZF600R Thundercat '96 to '01 --------- £12 inc P&P

Full set of front pads for foxeye 600, Carbone Lorraine A3+, these have been in a cupboard in my garage for a few years but are still sealed in the original packaging ---------- £15 inc P&P ***SOLD***

Oxford lightweight bike cover, comfortably fits the FZS600 and stores in its own bag when not in use, never really used it outdoors so can't vouch for it being waterproof, but used it more as a dust cover whilst the bike was kept in the garage ----------- £10 inc P&P

Having a garage clearout soon so if I find any more bits I'll put details on here

  Reart Shock
Posted by: otis - 04-06-13, 08:41 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (7)

Looking at sorting out the rear shock as it is a bit iffy when pushing  on in the twisties  :eek
Will just replacing the spring sort it out or should I look at a rebuild, but that does not include new spring.
Or am I better just biting the bullet and getting a Hagon or the likes.
I will be replacing the front springs to progressive ones to match rear
