Downpipes.. Old ones off - cant get new Motad ones on
Posted by: Andy Smith FZS - 07-06-13, 02:13 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (22)

Posted a thread before about my downpipes as they were a pain in the arse to get off.

Got my new rad pipes fitted (thanks again chris)
The copper gaskets that came with the exhaust dont seem to fit in head very well.
When I try and line up the exhaust, I only get about 1mm of the stud sticking out.

The old washers were a bastard to get out (copper ones with a sorta metal weave round the side)

I sat the downpipes one of my flowers platers lol with abit of wood for leverage, can use my knee to push the pipes up while I try and slot them into place.
Still no joy. Booked MOT for tomorrow at 2pm so kinda urgent.

Still got to fill up the radiator, put fluid in the brakes and fit my new shinny can.

Plus a trip to yam dealer today because my delivery didnt show up (front res cap screws)

Cheers

Andy

  IOM TT 2013
Posted by: Dave48 - 07-06-13, 08:55 AM - Forum: Diesels and Lawnmowers (Bike racing n things) - Replies (11)

Have, probably like many other "foccers", been following IOM TT race highlights on ITV 4 9pm weeknights. Stayed up to watch documentary about Joey Dunlop last night-amazing how things have changed since he started riding-a true all-rounder-astonishing rider-skilled engineer/mechanic & unlike so many of todays "celebrities" incredibly modest & free of ego.
Will be following progress of Senior race today 1pm on Manx Radio TT on radioplayer-should be close fought battle-would like to see John McGuiness on the top podium. 55 years ago was listening to BBC home service following Geoff Duke Bob McIntyre & co on the Nortons, Gileras etc-that was me hooked for life! :lol

  fork rebuild pictures
Posted by: rufus t glasgow - 07-06-13, 08:00 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

Does anyone have a pictorial guide for a fork strip and rebuild?

The reason I ask is I can't remember which way round the washer that sits above the bushes is supposed to be, it is bevelled, now is the bevel meant to be facing towards the top or the bottom of the forks?

Just got hold of a fox eye model but it hasn't run for 5 years, I'm obviously gonna drain the fuel and stick in some fresh fuel I was looking at this silkolene fuel additive that's like redex, the guy in m and p reckons it will sort out the carbs without having to get in there and clean them out, any one used this or recommend another similar product?

40 year old something loving the joys of Fazering
Posted by: chewie - 06-06-13, 09:43 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (6)

Hi all, 44 year old new biker, passed my test in December last year (No, its not a mid-life crisis, just something I always wanted to do but didn't get round to it!  Can't believe I didn't do it sooner!!!) looked around on ebay for a bike and low and behold found a Fazer FZS600 '99' plate.  Took it for a test ride and haven't looked back!  Fortunately I've got some great biker mates who are helping me and guiding me (Checked over the bike and changed the front pads) as I have very limited technical/engineering knowledge.  Loving the Fazer!  Great ride home from work in the sun!  Stay safe fellow Fazer lovers!!
