  Dog bones for raising
Posted by: Lakesandcakes - 18-11-20, 11:54 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (8)

Hey guys and gals.
I know this has been covered many times as I have been through all the posts on here. PieEater has posted a pic of his 50mm Fazer jack up kit on his bike outside (RAF Wittering) by the looks of things...great pic!
I am 6' and 16 stone......hence the name Lakesandcakes. :rolleyes

I have just bought this:https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/H-Yamaha-FZS1000-Fazer-00-05-Jack-Up-Kit-50mm-Dog-Bones-Suspension-Linkages-/223098198337 off thiefbay which says in the description that it will raise the rear end by 50mm. Not received yet.

My question is that all the other pictures (google search) of the 50mm dog bones show them as longer than the 25mm etc etc. I thought the longer the dog bones the lower the bike will be (Seat height) as they sit on a bell crank by the rear shock.

If PieEater is out there did you fit something similar to give your bike the higher back. I know you said it was a 50mm jack up kit but that just confused me even more...…. :\ :\

Any and all advice would be really appreciated!

Hey guys.

I've just joined the forum so wanted to say "Hi".

I've just (Monday) got back on a bike having bought a 2004 Fazer 1000 after 5 years away having children and life stuff. Ridden most things from 50's to 1100 over my 25 year biking career so far and used to do a bit of track stuff too in my younger and carefree days.

I've used the forum for a couple of time already for little niggles and see that there is a HUGE wealth of knowledge on here that I hope to use and contribute to where I can.

Until we chat again take care all and get out where and when you can.

Thanks!

  Belly Pan
Posted by: RoyBatty - 17-11-20, 12:27 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (1)

What was the deal with belly pans (is that one word or two?) back in the day? That is, did all the bikes have them as standard?  Mine has what appears to be an oem one, obvs removed at the moment, and I think I prefer the look without...  Same question with the crash bungs?, I have the bluey-green metal backing with the large lump of rubber, seen them in a lot of pics, very functional but hideous.

Where To Get Headlight/Front Fairing Frame
Posted by: Middy2000 - 17-11-20, 10:56 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

Back early this year my Boxeye rather inexcusably fell over outside a petrol station.

After lovingly restoring her with the help of some of you guys all has been well until....

My mate says to me, why is your front fairing lop sided.  I though he was having a laugh at first but no, it's higher on one side than the other.  Having just stripped it all down thinking I'd not lined it up correctly I can now see the issue.
The headlight/fairing frame is bent.  Where it comes from the stock it has two arms, the top one veers off to one side so it's out of alignment.  The fits with the side it fell on.
I've tried persuading it with a lump hammer but it's quite tough metal.

So...anybody have one spare of know where I can get one.  Found one on flea bay but not brilliantly priced and it's as scabby as hell so it'll need powder coating.
I think I'm right in saying the Foxeye one is different so I'm limited in the years of bikes I can source one from.

Any help would be appreciated.

WANTED: 2003 FZS 600 front forks
Posted by: MFD - 15-11-20, 03:29 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

I'm after some forks to rebuild my FZS 600 after losing it on some mud and crashing a few weeks ago.

I just want to put them on for a few test runs before committing to repairing the bike properly, so they can be pitted and leaky, so long as they're straight. Honestly pitted and leaky would be best since I'll rebuild them with new fork tubes if the frame still rides ok.

Thanks

Help! Aftermarket speedo signal converter on Fazer FZS600
Posted by: Phill S - 14-11-20, 08:45 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

Hello, I have bought a small speedo that has an analogue speedo cable. As I'm sure people are aware the signal on the FZS600... I have the speedo working apart from the signal cable. I have purchased the KOSO speedometer signal converter but now I'm a little stuck on how to connect this up. If anybody is able to help I'd be truly grateful! the more detail the better.
I'll add the details of the speedo and cable below

  Map of Twisty Roads...
Posted by: Grahamm - 14-11-20, 06:30 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

Someone on another Forum pointed me at this website https://roadcurvature.com/map/ which shows the curvature of roads for those who think straight lines are boring!

It seems to be based simply on analysis of the map data (there appears to be no way to screen out roads with only 30 or 40mph limits that might be twisty, but not exactly fun at those speeds Sad )

Still, it's a great resource for bikers :thumbup

Here's "Cottage Corner" on the Morestead road...
