| Fuel gauge issue |

When I start my '04 Gen 1 from cold the fuel gauge acts normally, gently rising and staying stable barring the usual slight movements when accelerating/decelerating.
After a few miles, however, the needle starts to flap around from full to empty and all points between, as if there's no damping.
As the gauge and sender seem to be OK on startup I suspect the wires between, but I've cleaned all the connectors to no effect.
Anyone had similar problems, or any ideas for a solution?

I fancy replacing the original stock brake lines on my bike.
Any particular ones better than others?
Best price I've found is for EBC lines from Demon Tweaks, about £93 the whole set.
Does the FOC-U get a discount anywhere? I thought I read something about HEL lines but can't find it now...

So the bike has turned up this morning and seems to be in great condition, just some very slight scratches on the (standard) silencer.
Any views/experiences on good/bad/ugly aftermarket cans? Budget £200 or less really, looking for good torque, and I imagine I'll do a 'carb jetting job' of some sort this Winter.
I've looked at PipeWerx, Beowulf, Black Widow, Delkevic, Fuel, Scorpion (bit pricey), etc.
But how to choose...?

Hi, Just bought a red Fazer 1000 Gen 1, only 16,000 miles.
Haven't got my hands on it yet (or even seen it) since it was bought over the phone.
It's gonna be in the conservatory all Winter as a project and I plan to strip it down a bit and do all the 'usual' stuff.
Looking forward to lots of great advice from you guys.
:-)

Evening all,
I had an accident earlier this week - came around a left hander at (I guess) 40-50mph during some heavy rain and hit a layer of mud on the road, both wheels immediately let go and the bike dropped onto the left hand side and started to slide, then something upset it (I'm guessing it hit a cats eye), and it flipped over onto the right hand side, throwing me off to slide along the right hand gutter while the bike shot off ahead, bounced off the dirt verge and came to a halt back in the left hand lane.
Luckily there was noone coming the other way at that moment, so after a few seconds sliding down the road on my back I got back up without any serious injuries (just a few bruises seemingly), but the bike didn't get off so well. The left hand fork tube is *very* bent, the fairing got bent around sideways and several mounting tabs broken off, the instrument mounting bracket bent, left hand pillion footpeg and silencer bent into the frame until it popped off, both wing mirrors disintegrated (I only found the remains of one) and various other minor scuffs/breaks.
Right after the accident someone in a Tesco's delivery van stopped to help me up and make sure I was fine, then a builder with an empty trailer stopped and offered to take me home. People *can* be nice sometimes!
So here I am with a very broken Fazer in the garage now...
I've removed most of the bodywork, fuel tank, instruments, etc so I can get a good look at the frame and hopefully confirm all the geometry is still ok before starting repairs.
Can anyone advise particular things to check/measure on the frame, correct dimensions/tolerances or methods? Any help greatly appreciated as I've never done this before.

Hi all, dont you know whether the early R1 4xv rear wheel fits to gen1 FZS1000? I just like the look of the wider rear wheel.
Yeah, I tried 190 tyre in the original FZS rear wheel already, but the tyre was too bended in the tighter FZS rear wheel. Ok it was Pireli Supercorsa, which are pretty wide anyway.TIA

Hello guys.
I always thought that my helmet was really noise, but I just found out that its the original screen (FZS600 1998-99) that sends the turbulent airflow directly to my helmet visor. I confirm this by riding at about 60 miles per hour standing (so no turbulent airflow from screen), and there was absolute silence... So I have to either fit a smaller screen (which I think there is none) or a longer touring screen. but before paying too much for a screen that might not do the trick, I though of buying an universal spoiler screen extension https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycle-Un...SwMl1fCHX2
Does anybody have an opinion on this part? How is the quality? To assemble it you have to pierce the original screen or you just fit it like a clip on? Do you have the same noisy issue, and how did you fix it?
Thanks
