| Putoline PPF-52... Corrosion X.... Viable ACF50 alternatives? |

Have just run out of acf-50, the aerosol type, and have been meaning to buy the pump spray and big bottle type for ages. However, I've been too lazy and tight so I had a rummage to see what else I had and found a can of Putoline PPF-52 corrosion inhibitor. Supposed to do the same job as acf50 and the like.
Have to say, I've been really impressed. Whether it is as effective as acf-50 long term I do not know but, it is an absolute breeze to spray on (ie. doesn't dribble and spit like acf50 cans) and the bike looks a lot better for it. I might try this instead for a bit - although I'll keep some acf at bay just in case.
Got me thinking, acf has a great reputation and it certainly has worked for me over the years. But it does attract crap and is a royal mess to apply, not to mention expensive. Might be time to try something else?
Has anybody heard about Corrosion X? A similar product designed for aeronautical application but apparently meets US military standards that commercially available Acf does not.
Or maybe there is another product out there that trumps them all, I'm all ears.

I got the above fitted to my 99 Fazer yesterday and the guy put 42 PSI in. I said to him the user manual for the bike says 32/36, he shrugged.
I weight 85+4 kilos, and more often than not, carry some stuff in a tailpack, so am wondering whether I should leave the 42 or drop it to 40,38,36?
My riding is usually urban with the occasional A road and less occasionally motorway rides.
I'm happy with 32 in the front.
Bike does feel very sensitive to all the bumps and grooves in the tarmac, so am definitely tempted to drop it a bit, but do want to have the pressure ideal for best tyre wear and longevity.
Thanks.

I checked the weather yesterday at half 4 before deciding to take the bike to work. 4°c at 5 this morning with a light mist. This translate's to -2°c and very thick fog. The thickest I've ever ridden in. Lucky a truck wss in front to guide me. I hate fog. Bloody visor mists up straight away.

Message to all car, van and truck drivers. Please try to drive off line to spread grit around the road otherwise the grit builds up exactly where bikes ride. I even drive on the chevrons where its safe to do so to keep it from building up.

Those of you that have had the pleasure and privilege of meeting my Maternal Unit, I'm sad to say that you are in a select group that won't be increasing in size.
After a dignified and determined four weeks fighting, she was beaten by lung cancer at half past one this morning.
Still shocked by the speed at which this happened, but also a little relieved that it was so quick and her suffering was minimal.
Sleep well Mommy, sleep well.

I know that she said once I accepted a job in New Zealand she wouldn't see me again, but she didn't have to be quite so foccin' definite about it!!
:rollin
Start my new job in Auckland on the 23rd of January, so keep your eyes peeled for a piss up of EPIC proportions before I go.
:thumbup
November, my new choice of "Yay, Nay" months I fear.

| Fuel Gauge Problem |

Noticed over a couple of weeks that my fuel gauge needle was not very stable, it would move about a little but i put it down to stopping on sloping roads, etc.
But tonight i noticed that the needle was bang on the 'F' marker, but it had only done 6 miles since filling the tank right up near my house last night, then i put the bike away.
Normally, as you all probably know, when you fill up the needle goes to the 12 o'clock position and just stays there for ages before thinking about coming down eventually, many miles later.
Anyone got any ideas or advice on what maybe causing it to be a bit random, and is it more likely to be a mechanical or an electrical problem?

Yamaha FZS600 Fazer modified to single headlight with powerful Philips Xtreme Vision bulb gives better illumination than standard Fazer. Also fitted is a flyscreen. The original fairing and headlights ,mounting frame etc.all included for anyone wishing to revert to standard Fazer configuration(.Please see photos for original look) Mileage is 16500 Miles, but I dont have history to confirm.A couple of minor niggles I must mention,Fuel Gauge inaccurate, so I use Mileage Trip, once filled up and then ride 150 miles before filling up gain, also side stand switch ineffective, hasnt been a problem for me just ride it as normal, the way all bikes used to be.
In last year has had many new parts, cost £300 inc. Radiator, pads, oil, plugs, filler cap , number plate with raised figures and also cost of headlight conversion. Also has 2 ignition keys.
Taxed till June 2014
MOT. till August 2014

I've seen a few nice bikes on here and a good amount of them have nice shiny chrome or brass exhaust nuts. I'm going to be fitting my new stainless system in the next day or so but my nuts are minging :rollin
Is there anywhere I can go to get something nice? I can't see anything on the web apart from ebay and I don't like ebay.
Cheers!
