Fancy exhaust nuts? - spencer_foxwell - 10-12-13 I've seen a few nice bikes on here and a good amount of them have nice shiny chrome or brass exhaust nuts. I'm going to be fitting my new stainless system in the next day or so but my nuts are mingingĀ :rollin Is there anywhere I can go to get something nice? I can't see anything on the web apart from ebay and I don't like ebay. Cheers! Re: Fancy exhaust nuts? - JoeRock - 10-12-13 Screwfix probably your best bet then if you won't use eBay! Re: Fancy exhaust nuts? - mickvp - 10-12-13 http://nutsboltsandthings.co.uk/dome-nut-stainless-a2-dns Or Brass http://nutsboltsandthings.co.uk/brass-dome-nut ![]() Re: Fancy exhaust nuts? - spencer_foxwell - 10-12-13 Oooh I like those ![]() They look a little delicate though? I'll have to check the site for maybe the same thing, but a bit longer for more surface area to stop me from lunching them. :o Thanks chaps! Re: Fancy exhaust nuts? - spencer_foxwell - 10-12-13 I can't. I went for the brass ones thanks for that ![]() Re: Fancy exhaust nuts? - ChristoT - 10-12-13 (10-12-13, 07:18 PM)spencer_foxwell link Wrote:I can't see anything on the web apart from ebay and I don't like ebay. Nowt wrong with Ebay, laddo! Re: Fancy exhaust nuts? - spencer_foxwell - 10-12-13 One day I will use it... When I absolutely have to but I couldn't find anything on there either that wasn't 15 quid for 8 nuts ![]() Re: Fancy exhaust nuts? - JZS 600 - 10-12-13 Brass, a bit soft? Can't imagine them taking a lot of abuse when you come to take them off laters... Re: Fancy exhaust nuts? - wezdavo - 10-12-13 (10-12-13, 10:36 PM)JZS 600 link Wrote:Brass, a bit soft? They are only tightened to 10nm or 7.3 ftlb so its not a problem... Its a better option than the steel ones that often become corroded on only to snap the stud on removal.. Re: Fancy exhaust nuts? - spencer_foxwell - 11-12-13 I was starting to reconsider but if steel will corrode more I'll stick with brass and use loads of copper slip ![]() I don't have a torque wrench though so I'll have to be careful Re: Fancy exhaust nuts? - Buzz - 11-12-13 This was a link posted a few days ago http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261331220332?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_sacat%3D0%26_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D261331220332%26_rdc%3D1 EDIT: - works out much more expensive than the links above so ignore this Re: Fancy exhaust nuts? - Tmation - 11-12-13 (10-12-13, 08:58 PM)spencer_foxwell link Wrote:I can't. I hope they fit, the website says metric coarse thread (they spelt coarse wrong BTW not a good sign), but a lot of Japanese stuff is metric fine thread. Re: Fancy exhaust nuts? - spencer_foxwell - 11-12-13 I hope they fit too because if not I'll have to use my gopping old rusty ones that have been on the bike for 300 years. I HAVE to fit this exhaust though, not only am I excited but the repair I made to my rusty nackered one came off and it now sounds like hell. It's quite embarrassing to say the least. ![]() Re: Fancy exhaust nuts? - limax2 - 11-12-13 (11-12-13, 03:18 PM)Tmation link Wrote:I hope they fit, the website says metric coarse thread (they spelt coarse wrong BTW not a good sign), but a lot of Japanese stuff is metric fine thread. The studs are M6 course thread so they will be O.K. One thing I would advise checking is that the stud isn't protruding so far beyond the exhuast flange that the domed nut bottoms out before tightening on the flange. Should be o.k but worth checking. To check. If you screw a bolt into the nut you will probably get about 6 turns, so as long as the exhaust is tight before then, e.g. 6 turns, it's o.k. If not tight then fit a washer (or two) to make up the distance. |
