Bike delivery
#1
Has anyone ever had a motorbike delivered by a courier? I'm just looking for any recommendations or people to avoid.

From where to where? A friendly foccer may be able to help in exchange for fuel tokens and a cuppa.

Yeah, I've used a couple of vans in the past, loads of details on ebay, bare in mind the £100 anywhere in UK jobbies could take 2 or 3 weeks as they obviously have to organise the collection and delivery when on route or in the same area to another collection or delivery'

Try this lot I contacted them about having my FZ1 transported down to Spain and they got back to me pretty quick. Decided in the end to leave the bike in the UK until April.
They seem have a list of van owners /companies and relay your details and requirements.

Would this friendly foccer by chance be the 'Bike terminator' and happen to have a unhealthy relationship with tarmac

If you have access to a car with a tow bar it's usually cheaper to hire a bike trailer. My local place hires them for £30 per day.

I have a proper bike trailer and more importantly business & public liability insurance to cover the bike on the trailer

Thanks for the replies so far, I should maybe add it could be 500 mile round trip so that could be £90+ in diesel and a very long day......

for 500 miles as a round trip, your probably looking at £200+ for any sort of delivery maybe even as high as £300. Makes £90 of diesel sound appealing.

Where is the bike now and where does it need to go? A foccer relay may be possible.
Another ex-Fazer rider that is a foccer again

I had varying quotes for collection from Bonneybridge Scotland to Costa Blanca Spain, best quote I had was £350 up to as high as £600. There was one at £400 I considered as his feed back was 100% positive and he told me how the bike was packed and protected on the rundown, It was actually coming as a part load with other items and a couple of bikes. That was through www.anyvan.com

Try your luck on hear for some quotes, a few members have used this site successfully. Check out the reviews on the companies that give you a price and make sure they are a bike specific company with insurance. Shiply is the company.

Twice I have bought bikes and had them delivered by firms own vans. Always well strapped in and proper ramps.( DK motorcycles; Geo White Swindon)
When I broke down last august I was rescued by a independent firm with a dedicated bike transport van who were working for BMW on contract .Driver said he works constantly ferrying bikes from shop to shop, shop to customer and of course breakdown recovery.
A lot goes on under our noses !
