  Removing snapped exhaust studs
Posted by: thunderpantz - 21-02-14, 10:27 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (9)

Now, I haven't snapped one... yet. But im looking at changing the down pipes to stainless. The studs on there don't look too pretty at the moment, so just in case, if I snap a stud whats the best way of removal?

  Modifications
Posted by: adeejaysdelight - 20-02-14, 10:12 PM - Forum: General - Replies (37)

I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread dedicated to the modifications we have done to our Fazers. Most of us, if not all, have done a mod or two during the ownership of our steeds. This might be a good place for us to have a look at what others have done and maybe get some ideas as to where we should spend that extra money we have, even if it’s only a few quid.

I suggest we break it down into sections so we can quickly refer to an area of particular interest to us, without having to read everything everyone has done, every time we come to the thread.

I did all of my upgrades and mods myself, with the exception of a few that were on the bike when I bought it. It doesn’t matter if you did the work, you had it done or it was on there when you bought it. All that matters is that it is NON STANDARD.

So, without further ado, I will get the ball rolling…

Engine
Repainted in black
K & N air filter
Carburettor balance
Iridium spark plugs
Leo Vince 4-1 full system, with carbon fibre silencer (w/o baffle & polished to the nines)

Wheels and tyres
White wheel rim tape

Final drive
1 tooth less front sprocket
1 tooth up rear sprocket
Gold x-ring DID chain

Suspension
FG Gubellini rear shock
15w fork oil
Jack-up dog bones

Brakes
Hel braided hoses
DOT 5.1 fluid
Rebuilt callipers
Polished rear calliper

Electrics
Alarm, immobiliser and remote starter kit
HiD headlamps (both lamps run full time)
LED bulbs all round
LED blue dash bulbs
12v aux socket
Digital gear change indicator

Aesthetics
Carbon fibre yolk cover
Carbon wrapped side covers
Carbon fibre tank protector
Carbon fibre fender extender
Aluminium racing exhaust hanger (pillion foot rests removed)

Upgrades
Ermax rear hugger
Crash bobbins
Billet aluminium racing bar ends
Long stem mirrors

Comfort & pleasure
Viper touring seat
Double bubble black screen
Heated grips
GPS/Phone mount
HD sports camera
Ventura luggage system
Scottoiler v system
Gold extra wide streefighter handlebars
Stomp grips

I have this feeling that as soon as I post this I will remember 4 things that I cannot think of right now. Anyway, let’s see what all you guys spend your hard earned on.

  FZS600 1998 - 2003 belly pan, new/2nd quality. £50 or swap
Posted by: papercutout - 20-02-14, 10:02 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (2)

I picked this up the other day, but I don't think it'll really suit my bike, as mine is naked and it's a bit big. As per the title, it is new, and unfitted, but classed as a 'factory 2nd', all I can see is that the holes drilled aren't perfect, and could do with neatening on the inside. Everything else looks spot on.

It's black. It comes with instructions and a fitting kit (only opened so I can read the instructions, everything is there). I'm in Oxfordshire, near Bicester. Collection is preferable, it's rather bulky...

It's almost the same as this in appearance, so you'd be saving a lot of money!

Propped up against my filthy bike. It will sit better than this, I just propped it in place!

  Probate
Posted by: evesdad - 20-02-14, 09:55 PM - Forum: General - Replies (12)

Sure I have read something about probate here before so looking for answers from the foc-u font of all knowledge. My mother passed away on new years eve, her will names me as sole executor and beneficiary. Main query I have is do I have to transfer her house into my name before putting it up for sale or can it be sold as part of estate? Also called into barclays bank today to freeze her accounts, got passed on to their bereavement service and they are sending a  "probate specialist" to see me next tuesday evening. Is this some sort of ruse to get me to use their expensive services?

  Hello from North Oxon
Posted by: xyy81t - 20-02-14, 09:48 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (2)

Hello all,

I'm a new biker and member from North Oxfordshire, UK.

I've had my FZ6 for 2 weeks, its my first bike after passing my test in January. I use it everyday for comuting and today have been able to go for a proper blast as the weather has improved. I have experience of this and one other bike (the 2012 XJ6 i learnt on) and so far i am loving the FZ6.

toying with the idea of going naked but for the moment, i'm enjoying her as-is.

Look forward to some more sunny days!

Restyling a fazer - tidy tail faring?
Posted by: papercutout - 20-02-14, 08:47 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (33)

Ok, so I saw this photo the other day, and I just thought 'wow, that looks very cool'. Now, unfortunately it's a photoplop, so there's no real help to be had!

But it got me thinking - how COULD we get a tail anywhere near that tidy and neat? Obviously not with the stock, bulky, seat faring. So what could fit? Anyone got any idea's? (by fit, I mean tweaked to fit, I don't mean making a new thing out of fibreglass)

And has anyone got any other suggestions of nice ways of modifying a Fazer's appearance? (I fully accept that people's opinions differ, but if you're of the impression that a fazer looks best stock, and the standard faring is pretty. You're probably not a useful asset to this conversation)

Where to buy genuine Yamaha parts?
Posted by: JoeRock - 20-02-14, 08:06 PM - Forum: General - Replies (7)

After an R6 throttle tube for my ZX9R (it's 1/6 turn, so will make it a lot quicker to WOT) - but was wondering what the best place was to buy from?
Cornwall Kawasaki and David Silver have always had my money before for Kwak/Honda parts, but I've never had to buy anything for a Yam?

fz1 r1 r6 forks can any one settle this arguement
Posted by: lewiseyers - 20-02-14, 07:29 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

I say the fz1 forks are totally different to r6 and r1, i know they are, but just to settle the arguement,........

my pal recons from the factory the fz1 comes with r6 forks, i say the 25 year old puppy should stick to his old c90 and bandit 600

i recon they share no similar parts and are completely different, although they can be easily made to fit
