Hi,
I fitted non OEM wing mirrors a couple of year ago.
I ride through winter so they get all the weather you can throw at them.
But since Christmas the paint has started flaking off the stalks.
The aluminium underneath is not looking good.
I am not sure what to do it. It does not look nice at the moment.
Any help would be grateful.
Cheers,

So I'm riding in too work this morning and my speedo is basically bouncing all around the place. Seems to be reacting to my revs more than my speed, shooting up to 140mph (I wish) then back down just all over the place. After the engine warmed up it seemed to get a little better but still not right. I'm guessing that I've probably got a dodgy connection somewhere, anybody else had this happen?
Going to whip the tank off this weekend and check the connections until then I'll just freestyle it.

This very interesting, i never would of guessed this?
1) There are twice as many two-wheeled Hondas on the road as there are Kawasakis and Suzukis combinedThere are approximately a quarter of a million Honda motorcycles and scooters on the roads in the UK, or 77,000 more than the second-most numerous manufacturer, Yamaha (170,000). Third is Suzuki (143,200) and fourth Kawasaki (89,838). The top ten table looks like this:1)Honda247,2092)Yamaha169,8093)Suzuki143,2004)Kawasaki89,8385)Triumph79,3686)BMW55,6567)Harley40,6638)Aprilia25,2869)Ducati18,23210)KTM13,283Figures drawn from DVLA data. These are the numbers of bikes and scooters registered by the DVLA as taxed or SORN. There will be bikes that haven’t been taxed since the SORN system was introduced in 1998; these will not show up in the figures. Although scooters are included in these figures, scooter manufacturers are not shown.

It really winds me up when I hear this attitude to taxation, now do not get me wrong, it really winds me up when I see government, local government and quangos wasting public money on stupid or undeserving things ( very subjective).
But I am so glad I live in a civilisation where you get educated, your health is looked after, our nation is kept very much nearer to crime free.
So I pay tax which is a chunk of my earnings, but at the end if the day surely when most of us compare our life style to places round the world where the tax may well be less, our life style is fantastic, especially if you can moan about paying for your motorbike tax.
So the discussion should be about how our taxes are wasted.

| EXUP cables replacement |

So, having been told I have a snapped EXUP (inner) cable I've sourced a repair kit from Venhill.
I am assuming that I can replace the inner cable without having to take the whole valve assembly out, but I cannot find any documentation of the top end of the cables and how to remove them.
Any clues please ? Tips & Tricks ?
TIA, DBo.

Doing a bit of a garage clear out so selling a few bits and bobs and came across this little gem. It has done 28k and was bought as a replacement for my one (which had done 72k!) but I never got aruond to it and now i've sold the bike.
It's nice and clean, no leaks and looks to be in nice condition.

Break or mend?
I've just read a bunch of threads on here, where exactly the same thing seems to have happened. Second gear is fooced. End of. I can only get first and neutral.
I think I killed my gearbox, specifically 2nd. I remember a really evil-sounding gear change a couple of weeks ago (when i should have got it checked out, I know) and it's been slipping out of second since and has just been generally unreliable. There's been a couple of times when it's lost the gear completely, with some gritty clanking sounds when I loosen the clutch. I knew something was wrong, but having only had it serviced a couple of months ago my wallet was leading my decisions rather than my brain.
So, I need to make a decision as to what to do with my FZS 600 (2001).
Do I:
Remove engine, open crank case, fix gear .... limited knowledge of these things but have the help of a mate who's done it before.
Or, buy new engine, replace myself and just get on with it
Or, break, sell and buy a thou, which is kind of what i want to do anyway? Don't think i'd get much for it broken though.
P.s. This is a small tragedy to me. I've had so much fun on that bike for the last 2.5 years. Have owned a few mid-range bikes and this was by far the most fun to ride and had the most character.
