For those that are interested in a 'Yamaha' looky likey Gen 1 Bellypan, I saw this whilst having a browse. Item number: 141212428476
This item/seller is in no way connected to me but I thought it might be of some use and is so much cheaper than the genuine Yammy one (if you can even still get them).

Whilst taking the cage to the garage this morning , I was waiting at the lights by the railway bridge on the Malago , when an ambulance came past with sirens and lights on travelling in my direction but in the wrong lane , as he got near the lights , a paramedic on a motorcycle came round the corner with his lights and sirens on straight into the path of the ambulance , the motorcyclist slammed on his brakes and nearly dropped the bike to his right , just missing the ambulance , if they had collided who would have been at fault .

Hi, just signed up to the site and i thought I’d introduce myself.
I live in gwent and have got to an age where blokes try to learn to play the guitar, run a marathon and ride a motorbike-midlife crisis my wife calls it ! One out of three aint bad.
Have never owned or ridden a bike prior to just completing a direct access a week or so ago. I intended on buying a 125 but a colleague had a fazer for sale at a price I couldn`t say no to and so now for couple of weeks have had a 99 Fzs 600 with 13k sat in my shed.
No mot/tax/insurance on it so still haven`t used it yet but itching to get out on it . ( end of month hopefully)
Don’t know what to expect as only ridden a Suzuki van van and a bandit on the course up to now, and to be honest knew nothing about fazers before buying it.
I have cleaned it up a bit and changed the oil, replaced rear calliper seals and taken off the renntec rack and top box it came with. Thinks it looks ok tho for a 99 bike that cost less than the direct access course!
I`ve read a few articles on the site and am now going to change the front sprocket nut as it has the thin one.
Looking forward to some hints and tips from you all ,and possible meet up for a ride.
I`m only ten minutes from Abergavenny and can`t wait to get out and about on the bike.
Will try and post some photos when I can work out how to.
Cheers
Dai

| Gen1 compression damper seized |

The fork compression damper adjusters are both seized on my Gen1. There have been suggestions about freeing them up but I am considering replacing them. The parts list I have does not show the adjusters so I have a few questions:
Do the whole assemblies just unscrew from, and then screw in to, the fork leg (surely they locate with some mechanism)?
Are they expensive to buy?
Does anyone have a parts list which shows them?
Have not started the job yet but the bike shakes it's head sometimes and I don't know where the adjusters are set :'( .

I've been religiously adding my fuel purchases to fuelly.com and have noticed a definite improvement when I use premium fuel compared to regular unleaded. I notice a slight performance increase (this could be my imagination, I suppose, or the weight of the fuel assisting the pump?) and a measurable increase in MPG.
Has anyone else noticed this? Does anyone have fuel or fuel additive recommendations to increase MPG?
