The average bloke has a total blood volume of about 4.5 - 5 litres, must be something seriously wrong with the intended patient to need a box that size for claret Undecided
It will be OK in the end. If it's not OK, it's not the end.

What about the gear to keep the blood at the correct temperature / correct conditions during transit?

Doesn't need to be that big. Liveried Blood Bikes have standard factory hard panniers.
It will be OK in the end. If it's not OK, it's not the end.
