  Steering problem
Posted by: pallomember - 17-06-14, 06:31 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

Hey yall, my first post here. Tried to search for anyone having similiar problems but no dice. I'm probably a bit lost with the vocabulary since English is not my native lang Smile

I have myself this '99 FZS600, got about 70k in when I bought it cheap. Been working nicely after changing a bunch of consumables. Minor tweaks here and there, nothing baffling until this one.
So the problem is somewhere between the front axle and the handlebar.
The steering is off a bit so that when the handlebar is turned straight the wheel is slightly steering left:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/giazjbkng1vo0m....31.38.jpg

And when the wheel is aligned straight the handlebar is turned to the right:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/7z6d1r5hfdspbu....30.23.jpg
Not a great amount but it gets pretty annoying after a while. What I've tried so far:
-Opened the upper and lower brackets with the wheel and suspension off he ground. The fork legs rotate freely in the bracket holes as to indicate they're not bent or anything.
-Loosened the front axle bolt
-Applied careful force to the handlebar with the wheel in place

Suspension has been working allrite all along. Should I remove the fork completely to check for bends? Does this pose any danger? Any ideas?
Oh and FYI, the bike once fell on it's right side on a soft grass surface when stationary but I managed to slow down the fall a bit (and break my back at it too). Can't really say if the problem occurred before or after.
Any help's appreciated, thanks.

FZ1s Gen 2 Rear Shock setup
Posted by: slimwilly - 17-06-14, 04:52 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (8)

Well what do we know about the "standard shock" ?

Well we are told that it is crap,,well saw it wrote somewhere.

Her is the owners manual to setting it up.
[smg id=1997 type=preview align=center caption="rear shock1"]
[smg id=1998 type=preview align=center caption="rear shock 2"]

But the fact is most of us have one in the rear of our Gen2s. So who has found the good points and the bad points in this shock.

Who has played around with one.

Mine has the spring wound up to the max,and i have set the damping as normal,, i will try to wind the spring back a few notches to soften it as i am 11 1/2 stone wet. Smile

  Kangaroo petrol- help
Posted by: Callum - 17-06-14, 02:20 PM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (3)

Hi folks, I've been out on the bike the past two nights and noticed a bit of a worrying change in how the bike used to run.

I'd better start by saying its a 2007 model, 5500 miles on the clock with no mods.

Basically, if I am holding the revs around the 3k rpm mark in 2nd or 3rd gear, the revs begin to bounce up and down by 500 rmp and the bike naturally begins to kangaroo. These symptoms disappear if I speed up, slow down or change gear. Almost as though it was misfiring slightly.

I also noticed when I was touring Scotland last week that occasionally I would accelerate hard and then brake hard, however when I dipped the clutch to change gear the revs would remain at whatever they were sitting at before I pulled the clutch. If I continued to hold the clutch in, the revs would stay like that for about 5 seconds before dropping back down to idle speed.

I know some owners had issues with the TPS, could this be the issue?
