FZS1000 Cheapo Pazzo Style Levers (Long)
Posted by: mickvp - 16-06-14, 07:13 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (2)

I have for sale a set of chinese Pazzo copy levers (long ones, not short). They are in titanium grey colour with black selector. These are brand new and have not been fitted to a bike, Im only selling as I ended up buying two sets due to a mixup with the first pair. I can take pics for anyone interested, but they look like this (they are the 3rd ones from the front):

I'm just looking for what I paid for these, so £15 delivered Smile

  Wanted: Large Ultrasonic cleaner
Posted by: b1k3rdude - 16-06-14, 06:55 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (11)

I know this is a bit of a random ask, while I look on ebay I thought I would ask on here.

I'm after a Ultrasonic cleaner big enough to take a bank of carbs, 40cm x 20cm x20 cm.

  Front oil pipe
Posted by: bonoeuf - 16-06-14, 06:41 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (7)

The front engine oil pipe like so many other is in very bad condition. I called into a hydraulics company and they have PTFE oil pipe with stainless braiding and can make it up to whatever length you wish complete with stainless banjos. It will operate up to 250C. I am going to get a length 22 inches long and run it in a half square parallel to the rad at top and bottom. It will be outside of the exhaust pipes so temp wise it should be ok (fingers crossed). Any comments from engineering types?

  Chain Slack on S2
Posted by: Devic - 16-06-14, 04:30 PM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (14)

Got a question for any S2 owners or anyone that knows the answer.

Every bike I have ever owned chain slack has been 25/30mm so checked my 07 plate S2 the other day in case it needed adjusting and seemed a little slack.

I don't have the manual for it so downloaded them from the Yamaha site, problem is there is the basic one that should come with the bike and then two for the S2 that are more like a full Haynes type.

Looking through them says chain slack should be between 45/55mm which I thought seemed a little bit excessive at 2 inches, after that came the next problem. One S2 manual shows checking the slack up near the front under where the rubber is mounted on the bottom of the swinging arm and the other one shows to check midway along the chain which I have always done with the exception of an Aprilia that I owned.

So basically any 07 or S2 owners/anyone with knowledge on the subject point me in the right direction as Yamaha seems to be arguing with itself in the manuals and doing a search didn't help much either that ranged from 25/55mm.

Thought I would ask as I just read Deefers reply on someone's main bearing  :b

  Hello
Posted by: Gaz82 - 16-06-14, 01:44 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (5)

Hello,

Newbie in Northampton. Recently bought a 99 FZS 600 as my first big bike after riding a 125 for a year. My search for information brought me here, to what appears to be the fountain of all knowledge. I may well be calling on it when I try to improve/break the headlights...

Pics will follow after frantic cleaning.

Can I borrow some carb balancing gauges?
Posted by: Jamieg285 - 16-06-14, 12:36 PM - Forum: General - Replies (27)

Anyone near(ish) Luton or Hemel Hempstead willing to let me borrow (take away or use at your gaff) some gauges to balance my carbs?

I've had my bike 2 years now and this has been on the list of things to do for a long time.  I was planning to get some gauges myself, but an ever increasing price of repairing my Camaro means I've not got the spare cash to do so until next year (if I'm lucky)

Pirelli Diablo Rosso II - the worst tyres I ever had
Posted by: Freza - 16-06-14, 10:20 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (23)

I've done over 35k miles with my Fazer and changed a lot of different tyres, including Bridgestone, Metzeler, Michelin, etc.
The last ones I had were Michelin Pilot Road 3 (I think it was 3). They were great.
I usually do 70% city and 30% open road driving, they were good because they lasted long and actually handled very well.
I ran them at 2.5bar front and 2.8 rear.

Then I had to change them. Visited a local bike tyre shop (guy specializes for bike tyres). After talking to him, describing my driving habits, etc. he recommended me Diablo Rosso II.
He said they were good all-around tyres and that they will last long.
On the first ride they handled like garbage, slippery, unpredictable. Very unreliable.
I thought it was because it's still new. Gave them a couple of hundred kilometers to "break in".
Nope, still garbage.
I've done ~1500miles on them by now, and they still suck.
They're good when driving straight, but once you start leaning through corners they start slipping unpredictably. They're very strange, in a bad way. It's like that they slip a bit each time you change tilt quickly.
They're also not very good for going fast through long corners while leaning. They constantly slip-hold-slip-hold-slip-hold.

Now, I read reviews on the internet and people seem to be really pleased with them, so I wonder who's crazy here?
I run them at the same pressure as I did Michelins. I found it provides for faster leaning.
They were new when I bought them, I checked the date.

I had to write this because I still can't believe how bad they are, and now I'm stuck with them, which pi**es me off.
They're so bad, that my friend told me he saw them bobbing (letting go) while he was riding behind me last weekend.
Sorry for funny words, but English is not my primary language  :rolleyes

  Replacing/Flushing Coolant.
Posted by: Arfa - 16-06-14, 10:08 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

Whilst giving bike a service and good once over at weekend I noticed the coolant levels are a bit low, only just covering bottom of overflow tank. The Haynes book reckons that it should be replaced every two years and I have no record or it having ever being replaced (and previous owner was a bit anal in retaining receipts for everything). So figured I just flush it and refresh the lot - it looks a fairly straight forward job according to the Haynes book.

So couple of questions:

Currently there seems to be the orange coolant in there. I have a bottle of pink OAT coolant, am I right in saying that since they're both OAT, it should alright to mix them, to top it up and tie me over for few days?

The book says I should replace the drain plug seals/washers. Where can I get some of these? Or what size of generic copper washers should I get? After a search on here it seems most just reuse the old one, but surely they're only pennies and it would be better to replace.

As for de-ionised water to mix with coolant concentrate, is water from the household dehumidifier OK?

Where's good for cheap Radflush and Coolant? Halfords, supermarche, t'interweb?

  Ludgershall

Does anyone know of or is going to the annual Ludgershall bike meet this year? I'm trying to get a group to ride out from my pub but can't find any details for this year.

I think it's always the first Monday in July but need to be sure before organising a wee trip out
