Indicator oddity - FZ1S Fazer
Posted by: Ash69 - 18-06-14, 11:16 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (6)

Evening all, hope everyone's enjoying the warm weather  Smile

Had a bit of an odd indicator moment this evening, half way through my ride notice no indicators, left, right, hazards all kaput although horn and high beam okay.

Did the usual wire wiggling etc to no avail, so carried on regardless just with a bit more caution :rolleyes

Anyway, got to my destination, switched off, fish chips peas, brew, natter, set off home, all working hunky dory again.

Haven't had the seat off to check fuses, relay, connections yet, and I don't particularly relish the idea of stripping the switch gear, but any of you lot had anything similar ?

Everything's standard and unfettled by the way - no fancy LEDs

ok so how come the bulb for the left dipped beam is a weird thin thing and where do I get a new one from?

went to replace it as not working and was faced with 2 prong thin bulb in an x shaped holder thing. ebay only has standard bulbs so a bit lost unless i try a dealer?

Stripping black two pack off aluminium..
Posted by: ogri48 - 18-06-14, 08:09 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

Wanted to get my z1000 carbs back to bare metal...cheaply..
Can't use paint stripper as it attacks the metal..then I saw yanks use stuff called aircraft paint stripper, as it doesn't attack the alu. Looking into it a bit, it's just a non caustic stripper..went online and they sell it at my local " tool station" depot, so fourteen quid layer I've got a tin.
Tried it tonight..it works!
Stripped my carbs, no staining or blacking, in fact the metal comes up like they've been pro cleaned.
Now I have a cheap easy option, I'll take the calipers back to bare metal too, and re paint them.

I am looking at buying a second hand pc3 but there is no software disc or usb cable with it. I assume I could just get an usb cable from maplins that would do the job so not too bothered about that. Is the software disc  necessary? Also do I need to disable the O2 sensor?
I am not bothered about fitting instructions as I found a youtube vid that showed how to do it but would I need the instructions to show me how to download a map for it and set it up correctly.
Or am I just better off splurging 3 times the cost of the second hand one and buying a new one?
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

  2001 fzs600 speedometer wiring loom
Posted by: nberts - 18-06-14, 08:31 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

Good morning!

First off all, I apologise for making a new topic and not making an apropriate use of search function.

I would like to ask a Q about wiring loom that goes straight into OEM 2001 fzs600 speedometer.

The thing is that I am trying to get rid of it and put a decent motogadget speedo on.

Can any one please look at the attached image of speedo back side and PLEASE tell me which pin is doing what. I can't find a normal wiring diagram that explains which wires should be cut off and which should be soldered etc.

Can any one pin me to a apropriate source or reply here with an info telling me which wire is which!

Once again sorry for making a new topic and I thank you in advance!

Hi all . I'm thinking of lowering the mighty gen2. I'm thinking of changing the dogbones but I'm worried about the side/centre stand.will changing the dogbones mean I loose the centre stand and will the side stand be too long?
