For sale - FZS600 - SpiceWeasel - 08-05-26 Hi all, absolutely gutted to have to do this but I need to sell "the old girl" due to buying a house. Thought I would see if I could find her a good home on here before trying ebay/FB market place. I maybe biased but the old girl is also in the best colour I have owned her since 2002 (yes 24 years, my first and only bike), has always been kept in a garage, and only been out on "nice days" (used to ride to work years ago so has been in the rain a few times on the way home or the odd shower when out and about when the weather changed). Never been in an accident or crashed, although I am ashamed to admit I did leave the disc lock on once and fell over on my side (scratched the belly pan and broke the little metal bar under the foot peg...the bit that lets you know you have lent over too far). The good: Has done approximately 19k miles (the battery is completely dead so I can't check the actuall mileage, won't charge) and as you can see from the photos is generally in good condition (a lot better than me that is for sure ). She has HEL braided brake lines, Venom race can (sounds really deep and fruity, unmarked so will pass an MOT), K&N filter (helps the fuelling as they run a bit rich as standard), double bubble tinted screen, belly pan and a scott oiler. I also have the factory end can (original to the bike) and screen, both in great condition. The headlight (and reflectors) are also in really good condition (needs a clean out as there is a thin layer of really fine dust inside). The bike as also had ACF50 and XCP applied. Up until 4 years ago she has only played up twice, one was due to a spark plug that failed (wouldn't rev past 6k) and the other the fork seals leaked after not being ridden much over the winter/rubbish weather when I took her for an MOT. The bad: About 4 years ago when I went to start it in the winter the carbs were leaking fuel and it wouldn't run properly. I did buy a refurb seal kit off e-bay (they sell alot of bike carb kits) and had the carbs ultrasonically cleaned and me and my dad (always worked on cars and bikes since he was a teenager) swapped the o-rings (we didn't split the carbs apart from each other, kept them in the bank of 4). When I re-fitted the carbs and tried to start her up the carbs were still leaking fuel. Has been in the garage ever since then. The fuel tank bolt thread (near head stock) will also need re-tapping as the screw thread is worn and will require a new bolt (easy job). So she needs the carbs looking at (wondering if the bowl seals were no good as they did look a bit skinny), or the carbs need splitting totally apart and swapping all the o-rings. Will def need a new battery, a bloody good service (would be worth stripping the callipers etc) and although the tyres havn't done that many miles they are old so I would replace those as well. The rubber fuel line from the tank to the fuel filter is quite hard as well. A chain and sprocket kit would be good to do as it has only been replaced once (at a Yamaha dealers) many years ago, the chain last forever due to the scottoiler. The chain has gone a bit rusty after been laid up. She is a good honest bike but needs some tlc to bring her back to life. Like I say I am absolutely gutted to have to sell her but I am currently tyring to buy a house and with my mortgage and house costs I wouldn't have the money to get her back on the road. I also won't have a garage anymore. I am open to offers. Would love for her to go to a good home. I am in Norwich and am more than happy if anyone wanted to come over to have a proper look. Also if anyone has any questions fire away. I can also throw in the Optimate charger, disc lock and I am fairly sure I have some of the service bits in the garage (currently clearing that out). I did clean the K&N and fit a new fuel filter when I cleaned out the carbs. I can only post 4 photos, if anyone can help me to upload the others I can send them to you. I will also be keeping the number plate as a keeps sake (not the reg, just the plate). I gave her a quick wash this afternoon and have plenty of photos (unsure how many I can post on here). |
