Centre stand |

So the centre stand on my bike will only spring up if someone yanks the bike from the back.
It’s not technique honest my mate has an fzs and his is easy.
I removed the stand and it seem straight and in decent order so I painted it and put it back greased up with lithium and its the same.
The bike is not lowered so Im wondering if it’s actually off a 1000cc fzs so a bit too big.
Does anybody have the correct measurements for a 600 stand from top to bottom so I can work it out please?
Much obliged for any help.

Fitting "always on" indicators |

Hi All,
I'm noticing more and more new bikes that seems to be running the front amber turn signal lights as "always on" running lights.
So I am in the process of fitting new bulbs and holders to my FZS1000. I considered doing something clever with relays etc, but in the end am planning just to fit 21W/5W bulbs, and have the 5W light permanently on, being powered from a feed off the nearby existing side-lights which are part of the main headlight unit. The 21W light will continue to function as regular indicator. Both will share the same earth lead for the negative return.
Does anyone know if this is road legal? On testing there is still a distinct flash coming from the 21W element which can be seen clearly over the always on 5W element. It is the same solution as the Fazers's rear lights that run 5W tail-lights and 21W brake lights in the same bulb.
Any thoughts?
Fazer Simon.

Chain / Sprockets advice |

I changed my chain when I bought the bike 20, maybe 25k miles ago and over ten years ago! I bought the best DID X-Ring I could get. I now find myself scratching my head as to when I should change that (and maybe the sprockets- which are original at 38k miles) again.
I've adjusted the chain from new no more than twice or maybe I'm forgetting one and it's three times - but certainly no more than that. There are no tight spots, no solid rollers, no stiff links, no excessive play off the rear sprocket. It is and always has been bang on for tightness although I run on the looser side of spec.
The sprockets themselves have no visible signs of wear front or back and certainly no cupping.
As a possible explanation, the bike rarely goes out in wet weather unless I'm touring and get caught out, but whether it does or not, the chain is lubed every couple of hundred miles maximum and cleaned with paraffin fairly regularly - so it usually runs clean.
It's not the money. The bike gets what it needs, when it needs it; but I can't bear to throw away stuff for the sake of it. I was brought up where things were valued and not replaced 'just because'
Thoughts on changing due to the time/mileage, or should I just keep plodding on until things look worn?
