Carb bits?
Posted by: Kenny Dave - 08-05-23, 07:33 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - No Replies

Does anybody have a box of carb bits? Picture:

The bit I need is the one in the middle. I've snapped one, one is stuck and snapped, and one is just stuck. The jets have a deeply stupid fully crossed head which snaps very easily.

If I can't get the bits, maybe I need another full set of carbs.

I'm confusing the life out of myself, I have 3 sets of carbs, and they're all different. Most of the needle jets look like the bottom one, which came off a set which I think is for my FZR400. Can't put it in, right? The needle bit at the end looks the same, but it's a different distance from the thread.

Managed to do the sprocket carrier bearing.
Has anyone got a good tip for getting the wheel bearings out with any special tools please?
Cheers!

Experiences using a 4 degree advance rotor
Posted by: Gaz66 - 03-05-23, 09:52 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (6)

Hi Peeps.

Anyone using a 4 degree advance rotor on a 1000?
Just tried one on mine yesterday & the old girl has a tad more grunt in the lower rpm range, but not impressed in general.
It's ruined the buttery smooth bottom end & turned the motor into a jerkomatic below 3,000rpm.
Reckon i'll refit the OEM rotor later, just need to make a new gasket up.

  Northwest 200
Posted by: NitramA - 30-04-23, 12:39 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (7)

On the spur of the moment I’ve decided to visit the Northwest 200 and wondered if anyone has been and could offer some advice to save me wasting valuable time?
I’m going with my two (adult) boys who have very little interest in bikes so don’t want to tie myself into the inner circuit.

  High speed vibrations
Posted by: Fazerjon - 28-04-23, 05:09 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (11)

Hi people, just wondering if anyone else has experienced high speed vibrations on a Gen 1 thou that start around 100 mph upwards (at the Isle of Man before anyone starts saying anything!) I’ve checked wheel bearings, head bearings, swing arm, replaced chain & sprockets, checked engine mounting bolts, tyre pressures, etc but all ok. I took the wheels to my local tyre fitters just to re check the balance and all is ok. I don’t think it’s an engine internal vibration as it pulls through all the revs to the red line no problem. I’m stumped for ideas now. I’ve checked the mirrors and fairing mounts too. The only change is new ish (400 miles ago) Michelin Road 5 tyres. Never really noticed it with the 4’s.

  Checked my valves today
Posted by: jul1us - 28-04-23, 12:48 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (17)

First time I checked the valves on a bike, today. Previous owner told me it had been done but didn't seem sure. As I was removing the AIS, it seemed like a good time to do it and DeWoody's video gave me the confidence to do it.

Three of the exhaust valves are very slightly out of spec:

Is this something which needs taking care of immediately or can I ride it like this maybe for another season?

  Thinking of a Fazer 8
Posted by: Pal - 27-04-23, 09:31 AM - Forum: Fazer 8 / FZ8 - Replies (2)

Hi
Further to my post on another page about having my FZS600 Fazer stolen, it has since been recovered trashed, so thoughts turn to a replacement.
Thinking of a Fazer 8, but want to know what to look out for.
Things I've heard about so far are the rear shock being awful and the dip beam only acting on one light.
Suspension mods on 13 plate and later bikes.
Anything else I should know about.

I've read that they were unpopular when new as were quite expensive, but the second hand market shoul dhave ebvened things up by now.
Looking at getting around 13 plate
