What are the benefits if any of removing the AIS system?
Posted by: ProdigalSon - 27-02-17, 05:12 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

Apologies as I know there have been threads on this before but it suggested I started a new one as they are all so old, so the question is what if any are the benefits of removing the AIS system other than easing access to the spark plugs? Smile

  projector lights wiring
Posted by: Ferky - 27-02-17, 04:21 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (1)

I have got a set of projectors from retrofit labs , the lights are installed into the light housing and I was going to get the extensive wiring loom fitted to the bike until I came a cross a potential problem , as some of you may know the connectors that come with the wiring loom are of the wrong type my problem is that a previous owner has been at the wiring loom on the bike , the current headlight are both h4 bulbs and are wired to work as they should but when I took the front fairing off I found another pair of wires just hanging around taped up doing nothing , these wires are black and blue/black same as the wires on the left hand headlight and after checking them they are live with the headlight switch so I am stuck with which wires actually fit to the new projector fittings . thanks for reading any help would be appreciated .

  Spitfire fuel diamond
Posted by: Graham53 - 27-02-17, 01:46 PM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

I saw this at the bike show , I didn't buy but as I don't use my bike much at the mo and lay up over winter it's been crossing my mind, I spoke to a guy at Essex performance the other week who really got animated on ethanol in motorcycle carbs, telling me how much it blocks up the small passageways and leaves a film behind and how bad it is. I don't know if he was trying to scare me to book the bike in but it made me think of this product.
Anyone got one/used one is it snake oil ? Or could it be kosher and work ? Or could it be worth a punt

  A return to Yamaha
Posted by: ProdigalSon - 27-02-17, 12:03 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (2)

Hi,
I've just returned to the Yamaha fold, I first had an SS50 (before it became the FS1-E) in 1974, followed by an YDS7 250, for some reason  then strayed away from Yamahas before having a 1991 RD350YPVS FII in 2004. Many bikes in between and since but when the need came raise some funds for my car I sold my Tuono V4 APRC I replaced it with a 2002 (51 plate) Fazer 1000.

I managed to get out and put 130 miles on it yesterday and I returned with mixed feelings, I bought it unseen or tried via the internet from Nightingales in Rugby. The bike was as clean as they said it was so no problem there, I had however forgotten how bland the engine is, it gets there but pretty soulless after the growling edgy V4 o the Tuono and the ballistic GSXR1000 that proceeded that. Of course it lacks the power of both but that isn't the issue it's just a bit too linear compared to what I'm used. The plus side was it was nice and comfortable and the suspension and handling wasn't anywhere near as bad as I'd been led to believe from reading this forum.

So heated grips, a slightly high screen some adjustable levers to be fitted and roll on the summer I think I'm going to learn to love the bike as the plusses definitely outweigh the minuses.  Smile

  Finally getting a Fazer
Posted by: vinnyb - 26-02-17, 11:39 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (19)

  hi all,
I first rode a boxeye about 6 years ago when I took one out from a local dealer for an hour or so. I loved it but my wife...err...didn't. So I kept my bmw which I eventually sold back in September. I wanted something lighter and more fun with an upright riding position and a decent pillion perch without stupid power, I looked at the 2016 er6f or Versys but because of a big DIY project in the house at the moment I won't get the chance to ride much this year so it would be a heavily depreciating ornament. So I sat the other half on the back of a foxeye and while it's no armchair it's apparently much better than the earlier model. So now I've got a deposit on a 9,000 mile, 2 owner 'Deep Purplish Blue' ? (I see no purple) 2003 fzs600 which I should be picking up in a week or so. It's had more paint than I would have expected for such a low mileage bike but the bodywork is mint, it gives me a project when...if the house is finished :lol  and it'll not lose much value when...if I come to sell it for a new bike. I'll post some pics when I've got it. Apologies for the rambling intro, I'm going now.
